ok so at the advice of counsel im now posting my tank stuff that is not a question in here and here is my entire setup. lots of pictures here of my two heaters, ba Baracus "peiter of fools"(my emerald crab), glub glub "destroyer of worlds" (my clownfish), eclipse "keeper of time" ((my rabbitfish)( or as my brother calls him the "bear face mosquito fish")), mountain goat " guardian of the mountains" (my blenny), zebra "overseer of the deep" (my 3 striped damsel) , and a snail who has not been named yet. my heaters are old and weird and require tweaking every two days and i am planning to get a new one in 2 weeks. i have a light that is supposed to be good for corals and stuff i don't know came with the tank. currently, i have no sand and are planning to get some later. i have a HOB skimmer that was around 200 dollars on my tank. lots of rocks, lots of water and some fish and i think that's my tank right now so here are some pictures.

well, thank you very much.:bunny: my plans now is to finish observation of the snail and crab to confirm invertebrate safety and at this point, since i dont have really any algae in my tank and my snail keeps flipping himself over i won't be surprised if he staves. after that i would then plan to replace my jerry-rigged heater set up or get sand ive used about almost all my emergency funds and have to wait on y normal budget of 15 dollars a week. trigger fan offered me 120 pounds of good sand which im trying to butter y brother up to get me. i would also like to try and get some Coraline algae in the tank to outperform the microalgae or at least cover them up.
y plans fish wise are i want to IN THE FUTURE, get a small school of maybe 4 bannerfish (cardinals) , a yellow tang, replace one of my lost clownfish, a Naoko wrasse (expensive but so cute) and maybe a cleaner shrimp. corals and anemones are far in the future for me cause of their price and water changes. you guys saw the state of the room i do my tank maintenance and draining in its nof fun.
oh and keep in mind the thank you was NOT sarcastic

We have an emerald crab as well. He's pretty shy and nocturnal, during the day he likes to hide underneath rock work. I'd recommend hermits if you want a crab that's more out and about during the day

Emeralds usually hide during the day and only typically come out at night or when nobody is around. They are very skittish. Mine will come out but if he sees me he will hide. I've had different ones through the years and they all act the same.

I know it's more expensive but have you considered a controller or something like this:

Heaters failing is imo one of the most common failures in the hobby. I would be afraid to run a heater without an additional level of confidence.

I run something on every tank I have other than QT. Even a QT I want to do something like this on.

Only takes one to get stuck on or off to kill everything. On is typically quicker

You can buy just the heater controller too. I think they are $50 typically. Then you just set the heater above the temp you want and the controller will turn it on and off. They typically have an alarm that will sound if it's too hot or cold.

I know the heater issue is old. Back before I was using an APEX I would use two smaller heaters. That way if one failed ON while it would heat the tank some, it wouldn't cook the inhabitants. Also if one failed off it would run cooler but not send them into a deep freeze.

oh i should probably update that i have a fancy-schmancy new electronic heater that has a 3-degree range which is more like 2 since it never goes over but ya the temp is stable the only heater problem is the quartine tank which is online which has a meh heater and is only for emergencies
i also have a thermometer too make sure that the heater doesn't malfunction
