Hi, I worked in a saltwater fish store in Atlanta in the late 70's, my husband did too. We had 7 aquariums when we got moved and didn't have any of our own taks for all these years. My son worked in a marine shop here in college. He lost all his livestock to Hurricane Ike and sold off his tanks. Last year he started a reef tank and I have been sucked in. I have a 20 gal Red Sea Nano Max with seahorses (3 tiger tails) gorgonians (blueberry, orange, purple whip, red finger, purple tree and purple fan) a pearly jawfish, various zoas, star polyps, a few mushrooms, and a Cespitularia Coral

I've always wanted to do a seahorse tank but never did. I know their feeding habits are demanding but not a lot else. Please document your progress. I'm interested in learning what you're doing!

I've always wanted a seahorse tank as well but stayed away due to the feeding challenges. The same with some of the non-photosynthetic gorgonians you mentioned. I am eager to see pictures and follow the progress of your tank.

The seahorses are Tigertails (Hippocampus Comes) I have two females (Snort and Snorkel) and a male I named Sea Biscuit. The jawfish (Digger) was added last and he is pretty scared..he let a peppermint shrimp chase him out of his first burrow and a seahorse kept sticking his head into his second burrow and he moved again.

Once or twice a day I feed them
On the gorgonians, I am having trouble with the orange ones bc of an algae bloom. I finally have that almost under control...The ones I fragged off of it are doing well in my son's reef tank
I feed Oyster Feast and Reef Energy A and B and just added some copepods and phytoplankton from Algae Barn today

Yeah, algae and gorgonians don't mix well. I lost my bipinnate one to a bryopsis outbreak a few months ago. I thought I might lose my purple whip, but then discovered the iodine was 0. Once I started dosing that, the whip sprang back to life in less than a week and now looks better than ever.
