Well I got 4 good years out of my ReefOctopus Varios 4 but it's finally failed....with a whimper. Anyone have suggestions on a good replacement? 90 gallon with a 40g sump sump is on a 2 foot high platform/table

I like the Sicce pumps.
I look at those but I couldn't see what kind of controls they had i.e. the actual controller part....might search on another site. It's weird....everywhere I find it, it doesn't show the controller part. So what I'm seeing is that they just plug in and go and you adjust the flow on the unit. So no buttons for feeding etc... Still on my list but.....

Depends on the product line. The Syncra Silent 1.0 to 5.0 are plug and play but you can manually adjust the flow rate on the pump itself. The SDC series has both a controller and an app. Not sure about the ADV series.

I use the maxspect dc, 8k on my 180..controller comes with a mount..you can pause for 10-30 minutes for feeding..and crank it up or down. Had mine almost 2 years running at 50%, cleaned once and still running strong.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I did a lot of research based on everyone's information and ended up with the SICCE SDC. Working great so far but we'll see. :)

Okay, so I have the SDC 3. We have had a love hate relationship. After 6 months of running it (And cleaning regularly) it started intermittently not starting after being turned off. I took it apart and did some forensics on it. So the pump shaft is ceramic, but it has little ceramic bushings that are on each end of the pump shaft. Calcium had got between the pump shaft and the little ceramic bushings binding them up. I held the shaft and twisted the little bushing and voila the calcium broke free. Problem solved. It starts reliably again. This isn’t mentioned in the manuals. Keep an eye out for this when you’re doing pump maintenance. Give those little bushings a turn and see how easy they turn. If they’re not easy to turn then you may need to spin them, soak in vinegar, spin, soak until there’s very low resistance to turn.
