I need a little live rock to seed my tank. I was told the rock I have is live but it’s all dead. Does anyone have a piece they are willing to sell? I ordered some live from saltybottomreef but I’m afraid it’s going to be too late getting here. Ammonia is climbing because I put a fish in. Waited two days to put a fish in.. just need a couple pounds I think because it’s only one small damsel.

If your ammonia is already rising you need to purchase an ammonia binder and probably wouldn’t hurt to get some bacteria in a model. Ammonia is extremely toxic to fish and invertebrates.

To properly cycle a tank without bacteria in a bottle you are looking at 4-6 weeks.

it will probably help if you take a few minutes to describe your system, it’s age. Was rock live or dead? What you have done to cycle. Current ammonia level etc etc.

Thank you both. I’m a very experienced reefer, just coming back to the hobby. Fish are gonna need to go of course. I got lied to on this whole setup. I suspected that what I was told was incorrect I’m just trying to get it going. There’s about 20lbs of rock in the tank And I’m sitting on about .50PPM of ammonia I’m sure it could be controlled but obviously I’m starting from scratch here since I’m getting no conversion ammonia to nitrite to nitrate etc. anyone who is willing to offer some rubble or something help get me going would be much appreciated.
