and kind of new too reefing.....many FOWLR tanks in the past, but this will be my first full reef.

Current tank is a 36" acrylic 75gallon mixed reef. I think I will be removing most of the soft corals I got with it save the polyps, and sticking mainly to LPS and SPS. I ended up with a ton of frags and am working to keep my frag tank healthy, and ID all the frags on the racks! I do know the yellow tangs are in to small of a tank......kind of inherited them with the system, so making the best of it. I may be a bit in over my head, im not even sure what a lot of these are, but I'm working hard to keep everything going.

I have taken care of the hair algae issues in the frag tank.

Welcome to Marsh!!

Bottom right of the screw are torch corals. Middle and bottom left seems to be a hammer . Careful for the tentacles at night they extend out and will sting everything around. Let us know we can help you ID

Thanks for the welcome! I'm not sure this is the right place to ask- I'm in the Beaumont area, but most of our LFS are gone(you have petco selling marine stock, that's it), do y'all have a couple favorite store in Houston that I can put on my list? I'm planning to add a peppermint shrimp and clean up crew shortly, and do not want to risk the real possibility of an ich invasion!

I have some better high res images I took with the GH$ of parts of the frag rack, I'll have to post them this week and try to figure out what will and wont make it to this tank. I have more frags of those green torches(candy canes I've heard them called I think) than I know what to do with LOL.

We have some great sponsors -- and a few members from Beaumont as well I believe.

http://www.marsh-reef.org/marsh-sponsors/

Personally, I have used reefcleaners.org for CuC with great success. Houston wise -- I can recommend FJW -- my cleaner and clowns came from there! Great coral as well. Also, personally have visited and purchased from ADG, Infinity Fish, Aqua Zoo (these are closest to me as I am South of town) -- lots of great stores further north as well.

Finally -- Is the Ag part of your name TAMU? Howdy & Gig'Em if so!

Yes indeed, I'm c/o '08, mom is c/o '79, have cousins going from '94 to '17. Howdy!

I made the rounds a couple years ago to some stores, but I'm always looking. Couple hours for me to drive over :D.

Probably going to remove the xenia from this system, not sure about the polyps.....thinking about making this and SPS/LPS only tank, but I like the polyps.

Howdy!!! Welcome. Daughter is there right now :). I'm in the same great city of nothingness lol. Have a small group I have met from out here. We periodically round up a few of us and do what I call "making the rounds". We try to hit several stores and sometimes fellow MARSH members. PM if you ever need any help or want to make the rounds. Personally have visited Oceanlife, Urban Aquatics, FJW, Infinity Fish and several others. All great places.

That would be awesome actually, I'll shoot you a pm! Might have some free frags to, still looking at things!

Ok, going to bug y'all for some coralid pics. I've searched, I've found things that might kinda sorta be....I'm lost. Can anyone tell me what these are? Sorry for the phone pics, I will try to get the GH4 charged today.

these have an orange dot in the middle, hard structure, then the green and orange part. are they LPS or some kind of softie?

The ones with the "tentacles" and the bubbles on the tips. There's a two headed one very similar to the left, and three of the same frag on the rack. These are torches of some kind?

It's actually hunter green with whiteish bubble tips. Torch?

The green..... lump in the middle. BRIGHT neon green, hard as a rock. The one similar to it to the right is not hard, and is a different coral I think

Blue one front and center. I'm not sure if this is some type of SPS, or a colony of blue soft polyps. I'm leaning towards SPS...... I actually thought it was dead SPS at first, but the better I've gotten the water, the better it seem to be.

There's a tone od polyps, a couple kinds of mushrooms, and severial xenia variants. All the softies came out of the DT for now.

Great mix of things there -- not sure I am commenting on the same ones you are referring to (and I am still learning myself) but here goes:
Type of favia
Hammer
Duncan
montipora
blue star polyps is my running guess.

Hopefully, this at least gets you a starting point for your google-fu to help find something more specific. Also, hopefully, some of the more salty pro's can help out as well!

Keep improving your water quality and checking parameters and be amazed the changes you see!

Cool stuff

Ok so the blue star polyps are not going in the tank(read to much about what they'l do lol!), the monti(green leaf plate apparently) and the hammer are going in. Thank you a ton on those!

I don' think the green one is Duncan, I actually have a fist sized Duncan in my DT already, the one is much larger at the base and has much longer tentacles. Thank you for the id's, starting to get a feel for what I'm looking at. Also seems the other a looked at is a maroon colored favia.

Looking again -- the mis-identified duncan looks more like a torch (not sure because mine crashed). Some torches have the 'ball' on the end like those. The bluer harder one is gorgeous, but I don't have a guess.
