Yeah boyz, I got the American DJ power strips in on both sides for easy plug and play access until an Apex goes on the system.

I’ve mounted these into each side for easy plug-in from the sump area. If you’ve been in the game for a while you know that some equipment is easier to plug in on one side.

Example:
Lighting like my PowerModule has a plug on one side.
A Powerhead that’s on the “left side” is easily plugged in on the “left side.”
A return pump (depending on which way you have the flow of your sump running) is easily plugged in on the LT or RT side.
Heaters may be on one side or you may have one on each side.
An ATO or Skimmer could be on either side.
You guys get the point. So having power outlets on each side makes life a lot easier. I can also spread the load a bit easier.

Plus, having a place that is easy to plug and unplug is key for future maintenance. Not only that, but having easy access to the toggle switches for quick on/off. Another thing to consider is “how to hide all those freakin’ wires.” I’ll be running some wire management trays over the back of the outlets to hide the plugs. Everything will be routed nice and neat when it’s completed. I’ll have to sand the area and hit it with another coat of paint before I’m done. The jigsaw of course roughed up the finish.

One thing that needs to be considered is how far the plugs will extend on the inside of the stand and also which kinda plugs they are. Most are the typical 3-prong plugs, but occasionally you might get a piece of equipment that has a larger plug like the ones pictured above. Then you might need to cut out a bigger hole so the plug can lay flush. This can usually be done with a jigsaw or router. In my case, I’ll probably use a skillsaw set to 1/2” depth to make a cut out for at least 2 larger style plugs. Not sure if I’ll need this space, but it probably won’t hurt to plan for, because later on I might buy something that has the larger plug. Right now my two Jebao SW2’s have the larger plugs, but I don’t think anything else.

Thx bro!

Still painting...I got about 5 coats of Kiltz primer on the stand. Working on the doors now. That MDF sucks up paint like a sponge.

So true about MDF. The final product looks amazing. Great job!!!

What size frag tank are we talking about RR-MAN?

I'm thinking about 48X20X16 - I have been waiting on a quote from LFS for a few weeks now, guess must be busy time of the season. :confused2::confused:

Hope I find a used one - I'm flexible on the dimensions since don't have the stand yet.

Sounds good, we might have to build you a stand.

After seeing more of your stand, I was like dang that looks like your old one, which I thought was super clean man.

Well thx! It’s cleaner in the picture, but of course there are flaws.

I can tell you though...if I had a table saw and router table...there wouldn’t be many flaws. :)
