New to the saltwater world. I have a 90 gal tank and stand that I got from my neighbor. He gave me all the equipment that he had. What should I do to get it setup

Welcome to Marsh! Well first I say is to take inventory of what you have, and what you need. I’m guessing that it’s not currently running and you’ll need to get it wet and start the cycle process. What equipment game with the tank?

Yes, ur right, u can use hose water To test it. Your gonna wanna drain it afterwards of course. Now depending on how dirty the tank is you may want to wash it out and get rid of all the nasty algae it may have on it. To wash it I use distilled vinegar a 50/50 mix with water, and a but load of original magic eraser cleaning sponges. As well as clean the sump will help to. Once you have tested for leaks and Clean( if you wanted to) next step would be plumbing. But really I think it will be best to wash/ clean the tank, sump, and give the skimmer a vinegar bath as well to ensure it skims as efficient as possible when you set it up. Did it come with a return pump?

Welcome to MARSH and congrats on the tank. 90gl is a great size tank and it looks like your neighbor set you up pretty nicely! Agree with @Luman01, start with a good cleaning and inventory.

Shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to help with any questions you may have as well as offer some contacts in your area that can swing by with some helping hands when it comes time to do the plumbing.

I went to a pet store here in pearland tx about setting it up for me. He wants to charge me about $400. Is that a reasonable price

Is the $400 just for his time or does it include materials as well?

My tank has been up for 3 weeks now and I have 4 fish in there. They seem to be doing fine. I also put some copapods in there. When I put some snails in there they die in like 3 or 4 days. I don’t know what the problem is

Did you use a kick starter to cycle your tank or did you use your neighbors water that was already in it?
