Ya just got back from the falls and had another awesome trip. I did find BIo Pellets and read the PACKET. It said I need a protien skimmer I had a protien skimmer years ago and used it for a few years. It was a good make I think it was a Berlin?? Anyways I never got any protien from that skimmer so sold it. I told all this to the floor sales rep and he told me to use nitrate/nitrite reducing pads in my case. I think it is always fun to go to a pet store that I have never been to before that sells marine fish and stuff. I went to one 20 miles this side of Niagara and got a small black urchant. It took 4 staff members to get him off the coral rock. He was holding on for dear life.

I’ll contribute too.

As far as I understand… the bacteria that are being fed from carbon dosing are Heterotrophic bacteria. They multiple much faster than our Nitrifying bacteria we cycle tanks with. They divide in about 20 minutes and can quickly consume your nutrients depending on how much you’re running in your reactor. This may or may not be good for certain tanks.

As far as dosing NO3:

For PO4 there are more natural alternatives, but if you need to get it in quick…you can’t go wrong with Na3PO4.
