Are there any brands of pumps, lights, etc, that are not compatible with the Hydros? Can you use Neptune products with it? (Thinking lights here...)
You should be able to use “basic” controls with anything.

Since you can control the outlet.

As for a precision controls for pumps. If it has a 0-10v input, then the hydros can control it with a wave engine.

This power strip is $39.99 msrp. I’m not 100% sure I’d trust it with mission critical stuff but it seems to work pretty good so far.

If the lights has 0-10v then this controller can control it. I currently does not have the ability to directly control most of the popular lights right now.

No direct control for Neptune sky, ecotech radions, ai, or new kessils. What it can do it just cut the power to the whole thing. Lights for me tend to be a set and forget thing anyways, so I don’t need precision controls for it thru a controller.

There are some pumps that apex controls as an iot object. Like my skimmer dc controls. To my knowledge this hasn’t been added to the hydros yet.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, after thinking about it, most lights now have web based controls, so the outlet is really the only point of concern.

IOT - Internet of Things. Basically devices that are connect to and can be accessed/controlled through the internet.

Lol if you start a new tank, it’s worth the swap. I got both running bc I wanted to compare.
I have 2 more tanks without controllers. FRAG tank and NEM tank. Waterbox 220, 36 cube and 24 cube all Apex/Trident/DOS. Still need to do something with IM40 AIO NEM tank and frag system ( making bigger ) was gonna get more APEX but this new Hydros does look interesting.

For those asking about customer support, they’ve been quick to response and helpful with any benign thing. My original x4 out of the box wasn’t allowing collectives to be made and the sensor ports weren’t working, coralvue had me send it to them and I got a new one as replacement in 3 days 🥳

We are in the process of setting up a planted aquarium for my wife and we are going to put a hydros X2 controller on it to turn on and off the CO2 injection and air pump. we will get the control X2 starter kit with the power bar. Then order a PH probe and CO2 valve to add to it. This will give us the ability to turn the CO2 off at night and back on in the day based on PH readings. Also with the temperature probe we can use it to cycle the heater on and off. It should be the perfect controller for this tank.

I know it is old but where did you land on this? I am looking at systems now and do not know as Neptune has new lights that look promising. This is a big investment in the total system so I want to make sure I get it right.
Thanks

you really can't go wrong either way. if you want something thats established and you can find a ton of used hardware for then go apex.

if you wanna try something newer that might have a few kinks, but ultimately prob a more robust system. Go hydros. if anything, hydros is pushing new technology working with other companies.

We picked up the X4 starter kit for my wife’s planted tank. We’re planning on using the PH probe to control the CO2 injection for the tank and the air pump for air stones. If we hit a low PH we should be able to turn on the air pump to dissolve some O2 into the water. If we max out the PH we can turn on the CO2 to inject some CO2 into the return flow. This sounds great in theory. We will see how well it works in practice. Now we just have to wait for Waterbox to ship the tank…

I apologize in advance for so many questions. Please bear with me

Is anyone here running Jebao pumps with their Hydros? What models are you using? The two pumps I have are not on their list and wondering if its just not been updated.I have an SCP and an ELW. I've read a few places about the need for a Jebao-Apex adapter but they have been old threads and the links to the adapters dont work or are sold out.

What about Sicce? Seems odd that brand isnt supported. But maybe the new Kraken module will support Sicce.

Are the modules daisy chained together with the command bus ports?
Any of the modules you bought but seem to not serve much purpose in your system?

I would like to add pump control and an easy pause all for feed mode. Temp and pH would be great with potentially ORP down the line. And I do like their sensor options such as leak detection and water level.

Thank you if you read this and have any advice, suggestions, and thoughts.
