If I got these two boxes what would I need to make them work? Other than the probes I want to run and all the accessories.

Aqua bus cable to connect ALD to APEX and whatever sensors you want to use with ALD.


I would update the firmware to latest revision on the APEX before attaching the ALD.

Do you have an eb8 or eb4 power bar? I'm assuming yes but if not you will need at least one of those. Plus an aquabus cable.

The older APEX Classic will run most of the newer equipment - I know its NOT compatible with Trident. I'm not sure which other modules if any are only APEX2016 compatible.

Here is my APEX Classic dashboard. To give you an idea:

So it will control on/off via eb8/eb4 of devices. I can control 0-10v devices via variable speed port. It will monitor Temp,Ph, ORP, Salinity, O2 depending on modules and probes you have.

Ignore my ph figures. I haven't calibrated probes in over a year and some of the devices don't have probes so value is false.

I'm mostly using for temp monitoring, and turning devices on/off via scheduling.

Can you use other brands of probes? These Neptune probes are higher than giraffe...

Yes you can for Ph and ORP. No for temp as far as I know and I’m not sure for conductivity. But Conductivity is a separate module for the classic so not really an issue.

One last question. This thing came with no cables whatsoever. Can you tell me the voltage on the power supply? $25 for both boxes I guess it was worth the gamble..

You don't need the power supply to start with. You need an eb8 or eb4 and an aquabus cable.. That will supply power to the apex controller.

You can buy a 12v power supply for the apex controller but I'm not sure if you can use that check and update firmware or not.

Yes - look for Ph and ORP probes with BNC style connectors.

You will find single junction and double junction probes.

Double junction electrodes are industry standard, and they have excellent advantages.
