I use pretty much anything inside the stand. I think I finish with Behr from Home Depot in all mine.

You'll be plenty fine with Kilz. I just get whatever's cheapest and seems to hold up decently.
The best part is so much humidity builds up and normal paint doesn't hold up
Yes, I'm going with a humidity-controlled fan to run inside the stand and vent to the room. AC Infinity has a nice one, but I haven't priced it.
