...this plan would not include expecting anything in return.

The entire definition of pay it forward is giving something away with no expectation of something in return.

A proper description of this would be as follows:

1. Original coral colony owner would frag his/her colony and give it freely to ANY participating member of MARSH. this would be fully documented & publicly announced.

2. Once the person who RECEIVED the coral has grown it enough, they pass the VERY SAME CORAL onto someone else to do the same thing.

i'm offering up to frag my melon zoas, mostly because this is the only thing i have that's grown out enough to cut in 1/2...

I bought this frag in October of 2010 from an online store it has been in my tank ever since and has flourished from 5 pylops into something big enough to cut in 1/2...with maybe 20-25 pylops

AS SUCH...i'm offering it up to the first person who wants to grow this beautiful, easy to care for coral...it will be completely 100% free, with the ONLY STIPULATIONS being:

when it's big enough, you frag it and give it for free to someone else...(Paid MARSH member only)

document growth and care of this coral at least until you "re-frag"

first reply to this post gets this beautiful, very easy to care for coral...

I'll be cutting this coral within the next couple days...just looking for the first interested soul :)

so, we went to the delivery room tonight...and BAM! the melon colony gave birth to QUADRUPLETS!...

unfortunately i don't have room enough in my tank to take care of all these young ones ;)...they're in the baby room right now (you know, the one with the glass wall where you can look through and oogle all the babies)...and pictures are forbidden...HOWEVER...I DO have a picture of mamma before the birth...

the birthing room prior to mamma's arrival...

Mamma upon arrival...although she was nervous, she kept her head held high and was steadfast!...i was VERY proud of her...

looking through the glass i can see one frag with 7/8 polyps on it, another with 6/7, then the two runts...one definately only has one polyp the other might have two (one of which is VERY small) Rocketsurgeon will, of course, have pick of the litter..I'll let you know when they open their "eyes" and attempt to get some pics once the doctors let me :)

Coincidently...I just spoke with the doctor and the babies will be ready to go tomorrow...their eyes are opening and both them and mamma are doing great!

Lineup as it stands now for adoption is:
Rocketsurgeon
Sbfuller

Anyone else want to step up and foster the last two?

List is now (in order of priority)

Rocketsurgeon
Sbfuller
Zeek

(sorry)

one more frag remains!...which reminds me, i got home from work and got a call from the doctor, the babies have opened their eyes, AND they let me take pics!

First, we'll start off with the "runts" (luckilly they can't read yet or their feelings would be hurt) 1 polyp and 3 Polyp, in the background you can see their Big Brother...he's such a ham...no matter how hard i tried he just wouldn't stay out of the photo...
1and3melon.jpg

if i count correctly these next two are the "big boys" 8 polyps on one and 9 on the other :)...standing in the back is the biggest...(you know, the camera hog)
8and9melon.jpg

and finally, here's mamma...she was VERY tired and only spoke to me long enough to say she was fine...but she's been sent home from the hospital and is doing well :)

MrsMelon.jpg

again, the babies will be ready to pickup tomorrow night...if everyone wants to come over and grab their respective "foster fraglet" 6:30/7:00 is probably the earliest...and remember there IS a pecking order for chosing frags :)
