I agree, I couldn't begin to know how devastating a feeling it is. It's been nice to see all the reefing communities throughout TX helping each othe

Yup... but still have a backup genny to power the batteries if snowed up.
True, you can never have too many backups in this hobby. I know a guy that lost $30K, but didn't give up. $30K!!!!

If I didn't prepare last time to be ready for an emergency like this I would have lost everything. I definetly would have quit the hobby this time as I've been thru this too many times. You can only get beating down so much.
Yep. I texted the board members when this started going down and told them if I lost everything I was out.

I lost everything while I was sick and then in the hospital two years ago (strike 1)

Recently I lost all of my fish to velvet while I was traveling back and forth to San Angelo to take care of my mom (yes I QT’d but something got through). (Strike 2)

Now I’ve started with lots of LPS and have a bunch of irreplaceable fish in QT (at the moment due to Hawaii ban). If I lost all of that again it was going to be strike 3 for me.

Wth???? Sorry for your lost. It must have taken years to grow some of those out. Please hit me up via PM when your tank cycles.
Well, My red serpent star and Favia I've had for over 13 years. I redid the tank in February 2019 and switched to SPS so 1-2 years of growth depending on the coral.

This is exactly why I'm joining this reefing club. You guys helping each other and being their for each other. ************ happens and there was no way we could have predicted how bad that storm was going to be. For someone to offer up frags to guys that lost everything or close to everything is a huge deal to me. Its saying "Hey I know you did your best to save what you had, so here's some coral to help you get started rebuilding". My hats off to you guys and to your rebuild.

I’m going to post some Zoas up for sale in maybe a week. Anyone that lost a tank can pick a few that they like and I’ll hook them up the best that I can.

I recently bought a pair of gold nugget maroon clowns from a guest on Marsh. He texted me asking if I was Betcao. I confirmed and he proceeded to tell me his story. Man, the images he sent were horrifying. From our text exchange, I can tell he felt defeated. I tried to encourage him, but I fear he has thrown in the towel. I hope he joins the club and takes us up on our offer.

I just downsized from nearly 3000 gallons to 600. My 2 Aquariums are in the house now and not in the steel building and this last week I was sure happy about that.
Tanks have been doing well and expect them to be awesome in the near future.
I dont think you would have slept at all if you had to go thru this with them big tanks.

Yep, my tanks are at my office & I was gutted Monday morning when my Apex showed the power out. I drove an hour+ on the ice to get there, set the generator up, and kept everything alive.... wife thought I was nuts. My dad then offered to drive back & fill the gas up so I wouldn't have to make the 2-3 hr round trip again; he live 15 mins away. Thankful!

That person is me, thank you Scott. Right now I am sad, pissed, angry, mad, speechless..... this really hurts. I only been in the saltwater hobby for around 3 years, but the times the joys I got from it was so so much fun and excited out of it. Lost fish and corals over the times, but not like this, not like this. How can our officials turn off their citizens power for more than 2 days????? 2 days without power in the coldest days, HOW? HOW?

Yep explanations are needed and people in charge need to held accountable.

Right now grieve the losses. Then when your ready restart the tank. Let it cycle and then take people up on the offers that have been put out there.

It sucks big time. I truly understand having suffered losses myself in the past. I suffered through it pretty much alone. Hoping you will stick with the hobby.

I have 40g of Red Sea blue bucket I can give away to anyone that needs it. Its just been sitting in my 105g storage container for a month. It will need heating and some aeration. Pm me if you’re in the pearland area. Bring your own containers.
