All right,

this will be fun to watch and follow ;-)
I will very soon to start the experiment of Beer dosing/feeding on Acropora Corals.

For this I'm going to use two ORA Pearlberry frags of the same size at the same location in the frag system right next to each other.
Surely I will keep making pictures of it to see the progress and effect of this weird method that started rumoring around, that it has a grow and coloring effect on corals.

Well, why??????
Beer has many yeast bacteria, aminos, carbon sources and other beneficial stuff in it!
Not sure if this was ever reported, but I'm really looking forward, if that has any effect at all.

Since I do not want to ruin my tank and do not have my Nano system ready yet I will do the daily Beer dose on one specific frag.

How will it work?
I take the Drunken Master Frag out of the tank submerged within a glass of tankwater.
Then I will add daily a few drops of degassed beer (kept in the fridge) in to that glass and will see what happens.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, stay tuned for that.

Did anyone tried that before?
Your contribution of info is highly appreciated.

I feel like we need to discuss the type of beer being added. I have it on good authority that corals prefer craft beer! Something from St Arnold should do the trick.

So, that is actually something I did think about.
Usually not thinking much but when it comes to Beer ! ;-)

I will use a German Beer Brand called "Koenig Pilsener".
It's a strong but very herb beer from it's taste.

Since it's german stuff, it per law not allowed to have anything in there that is not natural. Also any sort of GMO or pesticides and all that crap is not allowed ;-)
YES, in Germany we have a Beer law.......Deutsches Reinheitsgebot, that means German purity law !!!!!

Pictures are coming soon.
Have not started yet.
Will all be almost live.

Yeah the type of beer was the first thing that I wondered about. I would imagine that the range of recipes of the beers in the world would have a significant difference. Having said that, I've been beer dosing for about 12 years now and it has been working out extremely well. The biggest issue that I've ran into has been that the beer dosing has actually caused too much growth, typically in the middle section. I wouldn't recommend degasing the beer though because this makes it fairly undesirable. Also, I found that it typically has a more positive effect if dosed when the ambient temperature is rather high. PM me if you'd lIke me to send you my dosing schedule.

Koenig is a good starting point considering that it's a pretty well rounded beer. It doesn't oversell any of the ingredients. It will be a good litmus test for you to see the effects of beer dosing.

Ok, here is a start at least.
Some pictures of the two frags in front.
Plugs are marked to keep the position in the tank.

The right frag will be made addicted, lol.

The frag system is tied into my display, means all generic parameter in check so far.
Light is a 250W Cayman Metal Halide 20K

Starting maybe tonight.

Top view at the minute.

Here is the beer !!!!!

Opened the can and drunk most of it and let the remaining beer stand for 2 days in the fridge to degas.
Than I filled up the little bottle on the left.

So far the drinking part was the most fun ! ;-)

Will the drunk pearlberry be for sale, after the trial? If so I'm interested.

Well, sure they both will !!!!
These 2 pieces actually broke off in the transport of the Mother colony which did cost me almost an arm and a leg ;-)

However, these two guys are around 3/4" now and in a few weeks likely easy over an inch when the experiment is done.
Think to let them go then for $45ea.

Reservations are welcome, lol.
The Main colony will take a while before intentional fragging.

Ok, here an update.

Started yesterday evening, right now doing the second beer bath.

So I do put the Polish Vodka Shotglass right next to the coral frag on the lower level, and carefully put it in the glass all under water.
Then I do bring the Polish Vodka Shotglass with the coral on the elevated rack, so the glass is out of the water but temperature will remain as in the tank.

I did do dose about 2ml of the Beer and let it stand for about 30 minutes.

So the fantastic results ????????

Crazy 1 inch polyp extension, Increased color overnight, looks like a rainbow acro since this morning, and I measured a 1/4" in growth !!!!!!!!!
None of that happened.
So I will wait a bit longer and will wait ;-)

Update this morning.

I left the glass in the tank, and the bacteria in the glass exploded.
Looks like milk ;-)

Also I did get feedback from a Signature Coral farmer, which admitted they do this in their tank systems as well, but different Beer is been used.
Lot of Carbs and Sugars etc. as I thought as well.

I keep going for a week more, then I might change the beer to a traditional malt type of beer.
Dosing the entire tank system I will not do without my new UV sterilizer (THX to ATX for the recommended unit).

Cheers, ...................burb..............sorry.

Any updates? Did you put the coral in A/A yet?

Nah, not yet ;-)

I keep beer bathing the Acro with no visible effect other than it did not die !?!?
Which is a good thing right?

I mean the concentration of 2ml in this shotglass is pretty high.
So it does not kill the coral.

No real effect or improvement I can say.

Keep going, this is only a couple of days worth, I assume this bath is done every day? Would love to see the results if any over a month!
