After struggling a bit with suitable locations in the house I think I finally have the wife convinced to roll with a standard 125 gallon (18" by 6ft). Do y'all have any recommendations for manufacturers? I was just gonna go ahead and get an Aqueon tank but am unsure about the potential for finding one with a non-tempered bottom pane and I don't want to have piping behind the tank.

Or are there any other manufactured tanks that fit that footprint? Most of the newer ones I can think of (red sea and waterbox etc...) are starting to get wider than the 18" but I can't work with that unfortunately.

You'll probably have to go with a custom tank as the majority of brands will be 20" and above for that size. Aqueon can do custom non tempered bottom tanks, but I'd recommend Planet Aquarium or Glasscages for a tank like that. Glasscages are incredible tanks, but a bit more pricy than Planet Aquariums and both should be more reliable in the long term vs an Aqueon whose larger tanks tend to have issues after a few years in my experience.

For a 125 make sure you get the wide version. That is what I got. A buddy in Michigan got the narrow but taller version. One day he reached in and got stuck in the aquarium.

Bummer, I was hoping to be able and grab something off the shelf. Anyone know if the lead times have gotten any better with Planet?

Watcha mean by wide? The standard 125's are 18" wide I think, right? Id love to go wider but unfortunately my only available wall has the tank jutting out into a walkway slightly. So the 18" is really all we can stick out without it being too much.

The tank goal I have had for a while is a 48x30 footprint but I just don't have a spot for it so moving on to something else

If you go with one of their "standard" builds, you can generally get one a bit faster. Last I check about 2-4 weeks, otherwise it's about 6-10 weeks. These are tanks they generally have the glass and parts on standby to throw together, but the closest one to your size would be their 142g which is 72.5x18.5x25. These are also usually a little bit cheaper as they don't have to cut the glass to order.

Good info. Thanks!
