are you using anything for back up power? eels are so cool.
Yep! Return pumps and heaters are hooked into a big APC battery back up. Only runs for about an hour though on that. Whole property is hooked into a 18kw Generac so I've never had to use it beyond the tests when I set it up. And yes they are! The ribbon eel is certainly the star of the tank when you can see him lol.

Been a long wait, but the tank is finally here! New release Reefer S-1000 by Red Sea.

210g display, 55g sump with extra refugium/frag tank extension. 82.7" x 26.75" x 25.6".

Thanks to Galactic Coral for the ongoing installation. Took us 8 extra guys and some bruised fingers to get the tank inside. Before the tank went in I had the floor reinforced since the tank by itself is 800+ pounds and this is a pier and beam house. Should hold 5k now.

In the middle of building the rock structure with Cornerstone reef rock.

We had to stop for the day after we got most of the rock in last night, this was day two of installation. Needs a few more pieces of rock but looking good! Hopefully we can get it running by the end of the day today, a lot of equipment to mount before then. Tank will mostly be run with Ecotech and Neptune equipment and I'll post a full list when we have it all together.

New Mars Reef member here, so please forgive me in advance if my questions are out of place or improper (or have already been answered elsewhere). I just received delivery on a REEFER-S 850 and can't wait to get it going. I'm transferring rock and animals from a Reefer 350 and have decided to go bare bottom this time. Do you find that the euro brace at the bottom of the aquarium is a detritus trap? Did you use some sort of cushion between the base rock and bottom glass? And are you happy with the black bare bottom? Asking because I originally planned to add a white textured ABS cushion as per BRS (What's on the bottom of your bare bottom tank? - #AskBRStv), but to do so I would have to (a) run the ABS up only to the euro brace or (b) build it up with ABS to the height of the euro brace and then put another white textured ABS sheet on top of that.

FYI, this is my to-be-installed S 850 equipment:
Red Sea ReefLED 160S x3
Red Sea Reefer RSK-900 Protein Skimmer
Red Sea ReefWave 45 x2
Red Sea ReefDose 4
Red Sea ReefDose Deluxe 4-Color Tube Kit
Sicce Syncra SDC 9.0 WIFI Return Pump
Inkbird ITC-306A Dual Digital Aquarium Heater Controller WiFi
Finnex TH-0800 Deluxe Titanium Heater 800W x2
Red Sea ReefMat 1200 Filter Roller
AI Prime 16HD FUGE Aquarium LED
AI Prime 12in Flex Arm
Avast Marine ATO
Avast Marine Diaphram Pump
Coralife 12X 36W UV

Any/all tips and lessons learned are welcome!

Welcome to Marsh! No I don't think the brace is a detritus trap, but mine has a lot of flow so not much settles in the display. My rock structure has small pieces of pvc cushion under the main structure, just doesn't completely cover the bottom of the tank. I'm happy enough with the black bare bottom. It was certainly ugly at the height of the diatom bloom while the tank cycled, but so would any other bottom I could have used. Eventually it will turn purple and look similar to the rock structure anyway and won't matter much.

If you are not sure what it is and can't figure it out I guess you need to name it. You think maybe it is UC Stranger, so I recommend Stranger Danger.

Nahh that's cheating and trying to ruin pricing. If you can't remember it, then it should be cheaper not more. Just ruins lineage and makes prices ridiculous. Like the anenomes.. the CSB nems are no different then then the bta's I've had for over 13 years now. And the Chicago nems are not much different then the ultra rainbows..

Yeah I wouldn't rename a previously named piece. The only thing I might name would be a wild colony and it would have to be rather unique for me to justify that. Went and looked up my old orders though and it is in fact UC Stranger.
