What is one's opinion on the Clarisea Gen3 hardware? something worthwhile to cram into the sump?

uuh I like this one but based on the specs... instead of on the side it goes down the bottom? but isn't that a smaller filtration area , which I guess will generate more use?
I mean i rather have something like this than the socks that you have to take out and replace and they always spillback stuff I will defenitely wait for this and live with the socks for the time being...wondering if I can connect it somehow to the apex system as well (as in the app notifications) I mean now I will have Apex, Mobius and Red sea :)

Kessels? I had this one laying around atm so put that one on for now but I am going to build actually a nice canopy where I am
Going to house it on, I am not adverse to having that be over my tank, I have 3 lessons and maybe this one for shimmer effect

shimmer is nice, but it also creates a lot of shadows depending on how many kessels youre gonna run. I got a 360x tuna blue im about to put on the market soon.

I agree on the look and feel and the shadows...I am kind of going for a true natural situation, and in nature shadows do happen :) , but as I said have 3 blue tuna kessels already that are going to be part of my canopy set up.

Now my next step ...and I am getting conflicting advice so if anyone wants to chime in I am all ears.

I am planning on seeding the sand with copepods and also getting me brineshrimp eggs , then putting some wonder mud in the refugium down low and making sure the sump gets nutrients and what not.

however I am also being told I should just go with a fish or 2, and start putting food and the wonder mud and only seed copepods and brine in the refugium....

I am 1 week in in recycling the system and am in no rush i'd rather do it the old way of breaking the tank in....I have not yet put in all the apex systems (doser , etc) as I figure I can do that later ....have the furniture being made for me as we speak as I want it to be part of the display .

last but not least , mi micro as some healthy rocks and i was planning on putting one over just to let it start....but then ...I saw a flatworm so was thinking getting me a wrasse as one of the first fish after the copepods and brine are in just in case ...

Some tell me get it out asap but others tell me having them are ok as long as it is not too many...here is the one I saw

Thankyou all for your advice...!

It was bound to happen....the Mrs chimed in, and asked why I do not want to showcase the sump....and she linked the sump I had on top (lifereef sumps?)....I mean this sump seems crazy custom ....but as she wants this to be like a science fair showcase ...she asked me if I can swap out the sump for something more 'showy' and efficient...any thoughts ? I am already putting the equipment on the side but yeah showcasing the sump if it is nice enough may be possible....

however...gives me the opportunity to get another tank from scratch too heheheh.
oh well weekend thoughts :)

As I recall, brine shrimp eggs float, so I don't think it matters where you put them, they will go where the current takes them, most likely into the filter. I have never heard of anyone raising them in a display tank, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

That is a bristleworm, not a flatworm, and a pretty big one. I doubt any wrasse will tackle one that big, but they may eat the babies. There is one species of these that is harmful, but they're pretty rare. The vast majority of them are "harmless" detritivores, although they can look ugly and occasionally bother corals on the bottom when you feed them. For the most part they are good for the tank, and the odds of running a tank without getting these at some point is pretty small anyway.

Ok refugium is up , put some mangrove plants in it too, got my Neptune system going , not yet hooked the doser or the apex, just the regular power socket and the calibration items...
have been seeding Copepods for the past 4 weeks, both botom and top...
Brought in the cleaning crew , and have started with my leather corals...I intend to do corals and invertebrates first and fish last (weeks/months from now)
So started off with some nice ones, more coming this weekend....
Doing it old school ...little by little let it settle , cycle and then more and more....
Canopy ordered and some kessels and radeons coming soon , for now just with one kessel and my back up fluval marine (I know don't judge :) ) ....
Still debating on maybe removing the sump and building one of those awesome Aussie style enclosed ones....
but for now starting to populate....
any one in need of rehoming your excess invertebrates or leather corals (not doing hard corals as they are so much more demanding ) let me know ...I rather be of help/assistance.
The water station will be set up soon in meantime still doing manual 20% changes , even though it is rather pristine...
Still debating if I should do the fleece roller ....but for now tank is starting to roll....
here a quick snapshot video...

Here the little One (quarantine tank)
The set up for my systems , water will be next to it soon

Ok got the custom canopy , lights fixtures and my LPS and cleaner crew done, also cleaned sump up a bit , turned on the skimmer (need to tweak prob.) but the leathers are all opening up , my 6 band wrasse and my 2 molly's (they did not die!) ...sole fish atm...
still want to do inverts , leathers and what not first and put in fish last...

as always any advice comments always welcome!

Well today 20 % water change and now hoping this will settle down...
Had conflicting advice...its a new tank let it be, its a new tank turn off lights,
So went with my gut...Water quality trumps everything...so doing my by weekly 20 % water cahnge no matter what (be it new or old)
My Mini since week one been doing the same and all is fine...
But man it looks horrible

Not even my discus tank is this brown!
