Hello Members and Guests,
I wanted to give you an update of how the finances went for Reef Currents 2019. It takes a lot to put on a show of this size, getting sponsors/vendors/speakers, pipe and drape, a venue, feeding/entertaining vendors, obtaining raffle items, transporting 600+ gallons of water, swag bags, goodies, and so much more.
The BOD spend most of the year organizing this event and have already started on RC 2020, 100% volunteering their time without any MARSH payment. Together with the help of our reefing community, Reef Currents 2019 was a SPECTACULAR show!
With the support of vendors and our dedicated sponsors, MARSH was able to fund a show that will continually bring top name-branded vendors. We budget Reef Currents to fund itself. For Reef Currents 2019, our expenses were about $28,000 with a net profit of nearly 33%!
MARSH uses this money to support our events, forum, and charitable work throughout the year as well as the seed money for the next Reef Currents. We’ve used this strategy to grow the event from 200 people and several vendors to over 600 attendees and over 3 dozen vendors.
With this continued support and growth, we have to expand to meet the community’s reefing demand. For 2020, we’re moving to a more central location with better parking, easier access for our vendors and over 12K sq ft of vendor space. The Crowne Plaza next to Reliant Stadium and 610 South (8686 Kirby Dr.).
Please join us MAY 2nd, 2020 at our NEW larger location. Don’t miss one of the best shows in the nation in our own backyard. Check out ReefCurrents.org for the latest updates and sign-up to the email newsletters for updates and give-aways.
