Hello Members, I know a lot of you have suffered great losses these last few days and are struggling to get back on your feet.

Some of you have not lost anything and want to help. We have been contacted by several people and organizations across the country wanting to help out in some way. We are very grateful and will do our best to make sure those in need receive what support we do get.

If you would like to help out you can PM either myself or the clubs vice president @Cody. Working with the other BOD we will see to it that your support is put in deserving hands.

If you would like to make a monetary donation you can send your contribution via paypal to income@marsh-reef.org . Every penny received will be put back in the hands of those in need.

A special thank you to @PeterNY , @Mandarin417 , @NeonRabbit221B and the @MARSH BoD for getting this started off. Hopefully with your support we can do a lot of good!

Glad I can help. It pained me to watch on IG and R2R several multi-update tank crashes. If anything is off limits to ship please let me know! Once I get things locked down with a few memebers of the central va reef club I will post up the shipping list. Trying to convince a few stingier buddies to donate some clean up crew memebers as well

Very humbled by the outpouring of support being offered to the Houston community of hobbyists by our fellow reefing communities both near and far! Please check back to this thread often for updates as more information will be made available in the coming days.

First time posting on this site. While I live in NY, I have visited Houston many times for work. Great city with great people.

Read the many heartbreaking stories about Texan’s aquariums during the power outages. Posted a thread Friday night on R2R on wanting to help anyone in need in Texas. @footgal responded, described the ordeals, and directed me to MARSH. That’s when I learned about MARSH, joined, and sent a donation. Found MARSH to be quite responsive, so I sent another donation.

Hard to understand the difficult things that happen to us in life but I Know that MARSH members are in good hands and have a very supportive community.

Wishing everyone a speedy recovery. Looking forward to hearing the recovery stories and seeing the recovery pictures right here on MARSH.

Regards & Best Wishes,
Peter

I still can’t get over that I lost all my corals and fish that were 9yrs old. To many that have heard about my loss don’t mean anything to me was a bond between my reef tank. I turned the lights on and I see several mushrooms and palys that want to live. I don’t know what to do. Can I let the tank cycle again? I went to a lfs and got some chemi pure and added carbon because the smell is too much. I feel for everyone that is going thru the same thing.

I know I’m just a “guest,” but I just want to give a LOUD, LOUD, LOOOUUUDDD shout out to all these people who’ve stepped up in BIG ways to help our community. You are ALL saltwater angels in a time of complete and utter despair out here! The pics I’ve seen over the last week, I can’t un-see... they’ll haunt my dreams forever. We lost my daughter’s tank and it’s been tough to keep a kiddo from being completely spent on the hobby. I didn’t take any pics, well, bc it’s kinda morbid and I didn’t want to ever have to see it again... plus explaining THAT to the kids if asked what I was doing 😬 It smelled pretty rancid, too, so getting it taken care of ASAP was priority! The poor little clowns made it somehow, so we’re extremely grateful for that. They’re currently housed in my office tank and recovering VERY nicely while I get her tank re-sorted this week.. Got everything needed to where we won’t have to cycle again, so that’s another plus. We’re going to rebuild, learn from this, and be wiser for it just like the rest of our MARSH community going through this! I’ll get a membership on Wednesday to do my part in supporting this community bc it absolutely NEEDS to be here... I suggest all other committed guests do the same! 👀

Man... I’m deeply sorry. Can you get them out and into a QT tank if possible while you do a pretty drastic water change? That’s what I did with the fish that made it. I haven’t put them back yet, but they’re doing great after getting out of there into some warmer, cleaner water. (They will need to be acclimated just like they came out of a shipping box) After I got the live stuff out, I cleared all the casualties, vacuumed the 💩 out of the substrate, cleaned all media and replaced chemipure. I’ve done 2 50% changes, 2 20%, and one 10, dripped some Prime for good measure, running power heads just to clear the water. All params seem to be back in check... main thing is going to be getting your survivors somewhere safe in the meantime.

I couldn’t imagine your loss. I’m very sorry to hear about a nine year old tank crashing.

Thank you. How do I become a member? Have been coming here since I started. Have never sold a coral always believed in giving them out free. I just hope all the corals I ever given are still alive.
