This tentacle thing seems to be stinging my zoas all of a sudden..It’s been there from day one without incident so I just left it alone. It would go flaccid durning the day and then wake up at night. Tank is 5 months old now and things are really starting to grow. Really enjoying the hobby.

Should I cut it out?

chop it off as close to the base as possible with bone cutters and then mash what is left to smithereens. There is a worm in that tube down at the base that you want to kill.

Some chop and then seal off the hole with super glue. Hate those things...

Gotta do some of this...

If it's going flaccid during the day, it's not a vermetid snail - their shells are hard and stay that way. Also there would be a pretty large and noticeable web visible at times with a vermetid that large.

I agree that it looks more like a snake polyp. They are supposedly peaceful from what I just read, but if you decide to remove it, keep in mind that it is a member of the zoanthid family, so use the same precautions against palytoxin you would with any zoa.
