I am looking for a new return pump. I need your input on the quiet one pumps. I need something that will pump about 1000 gph give or take @ 6 foot of head. I am looking for one that will not run the electric bill up too high.

1000 gph at 6 ft head is not easy to do. Most all internal pumps that do 1000gph @ 6ft are not very energy efficient at all.

When you need that much juice, most people will recommend to just get a nice external pump.

Sorry I did not say it but I was talking about external pumps.

They are quiet, but don't push as much water as they claim. I have one running my closed loop, I like how quiet and how cool it stays, but I had a velocity T4 that demolished it when it came to flow.

I have had 2 quiet-one pumps. An older one, with no model #, and now a quiet-one 4000. I had been using it for a skimmer, but now it will be my return pump.

The pumps are well built with efficient impellers. the 4000 will not do 1000gph at 6 feet though. You might try a 6000, but I have no experience with that model

I recently purchased a velocity T3 external pump that I'm very impressed with in terms of quiet and efficient operation. T3 is still too small for what you want, though a T4 could do it with room to spare.

I have an ampmaster 2100 currently running my return, It can hit 2000 gph at 6 feet head. I have mine throttled back a bit to keep from overwheming my return lines. Biggest problem with them is making sure you keep snails and sand out of the inlet. their seals are prone to failure.

Be sure you size your overflows properly.

Best of luck
