For past 6 months about I have started to do my partial water changes using bottled ro water then putting it through a di membrane. At 2 dollars can. For a big clear bottle it is a good deal. ..A month ago I got a ro membrane...so attached to a drinking water safe hose. But water will not pass through???? Any ideas??

Yes, that is not how an ro membrane works... You need a very specific housing for the water to enter then the rpessure is what forces clean water through the membrane and rejects the other water that has the stuff you do not want.

At the very least you need something similar to this

tapwater in ->sediment filter->carbon filter->ro membrane->di filter->water out for fish tank

it will work. it just lacks the DI stage so you are letting some impurities through.

If your tank is mostly fish with a few softies probably ok.

3 stage ok
4 stage better
5 stage even better
5+

MARSH is giving away a RO/DI system from BRS on Bingo Night... win that and you will be all set up! Otherwise you can probably find a used one online.

It is on Amazon.ca. only 1 left as of this morning. Apparently you can add a di membrane it said. Or just do what I am doing. Well for 99 can. Around 75 us... I am going to order it. Thanks for the advice.

As to what I got on my 125.... I got a yellow tang and damsel. Dori tomato nimo ..2 yellow tail damsels...bubble coral plus a very small one. both pink. Elegance ..pulsating. 2 different types of leathers. Plus other stuff. The elegance and dori nemo will hopefully benifet from the rodi water. The rest I think would do fine using charcoal filtered city of Sarnia water. Onward and forward
