OH BTW this looks kinda small. It is 2 feet tall!

Waiting for Cynthia to chime in to see if I am living up to my artistic potential.

Correction! $1600.00. :D

Hence the reason falls testing is being done.

and before you ask, when you have three sided starphire it just does not come cheap.

I have been reef tanking 18 years so for me the investment is worth it.
Obviously after 18 years I am here to stay and enjoy it immensely.

Well, Mark, after that many years in the hobby, you know that you should not even keep track of your investments into the tank, after the first 2K, you really don't want to know
I can't wait to see your creation up and running.

here is how my rock turned out after the bath in the gulf. it had some dark silty sediment that washed off pretty easily with the water hose and the muddy water slightly stained the rock a light shade of brown.... but one it is put in the tank next to the real live rock, it is still very white. most of it went in the fuge anyway so in a few months should look much better. the "purple prime" that i put on it to give it some purple color came off while in the gulf so i wouldn't recommend putting it on the rock because it will most likely come off in the tank.

One thing I really like about this formula is the porousness.
The SBfuller picture really makes the point of that. Look at the natural live rock openness compared to the fake rock.

Markie, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry it took me so long but do you realize this thread is 12 pages!
I got lost thinking, I had already caught up with you. Please let me say. It's great.
I like the openess. The two bottom planks look like feet tiptoeing around the ocean.
Do you see it? or Is it just me?
BRAVO. I can't wait to see it complete.

Hehe...wonder if that means anything Freudian? If it does I don't want to know. No really tell me... Only if it's normal and not too far out.
Ok, go ahead. I can take it.

hi reefers
marki the rocks look awsome
i have about 50 lbs of useable crete rock with 20 lbs in the main tank and all is well i have decided the best mix for me is 1 crete 4 shell 1 water
i may be crazy but does any one remember the old plactic lego type rocks for freshwater?
i m trying this with diy rocks by cutting 1 inch pvp and using them like posts and forming large rocks around them. on 4 inch centers once finished that can be coupled to gether with coupling and stacked like legos
pics in a few weeks my camera broke

thx for the idea mihn

Well after overcoming many challenges I finally got water and rocks in the tank just to test and get the skimmer and sump, etc running as a test.

The water is cloudy mostly from rock residue but the skimmer will get that as it is already skimming with pure virgin water. Also not colorful because I am waiting to hang my lights until I am done. Just normal house lighting here.

A few more tweaks here and there, and finalizing my rocks, and I get to cycle! YEAH!

I must say i have a new appreciation for folks that set up large tanks! It has been more work than I ever realized. I still have trim work, plumbing, sensors, wiring, lights blah blah blah left to go! A LOT of work!
