What type and size of container do you big tank guys use? My total water volume will be around 400gal. I was thinking vertical around 200-300gal?

Unless you're going with a 7' tall container, expect the diameter to be at least 48". I'm going to use a 300 square container for my ~250 gallon system. I found someone that sells used square containers for $50.

The quote I requested at protank was polyethylene 33” by 94”. They were asking about outlet fittings and need for modifications on tank?

Tank depot has one for ~$300 but shipping doubles the price. Crap I don’t have a truck.

Yeah protank is the way to go. I've searched the internet and local shops far and wide and they're by far the most reasonable, plus the staff in town is great. If I didn't find a second hand one, that would be the route that I would go. I actually might still go that route just to get tanks with more preferable dimensions, but we will see.

Home Depot rents flat bed trucks for $20 for the first 75 minutes, and $20 for every hour after that. Not all locations participate, but I know a lot do.

I have a 400g display tank and I have two containers, 50g ea. One for rodi and one for saltwater. I've used this since I set my tank up 5 years ago and never needed anything more.

Do you have a pic of your set up so that I can copy.

Also, how do you do maintenance on your saltwater container? I have multiple brutes right now so that I can always ensure each is clean. Need help with this situation...

I have run multiple auto water change systems where water was made once a month so the saltwater had plenty of time to sit. Maybe every 6 months, a vinegar bath or power washer sprayer would be needed to get a little precipitation off of the bottom. Other than that, you won't have to do any maintenance, and that's just in an extreme situation.

Here is mine for multiple tanks. Its designed to support gravity fed ATO - top, the bottom tanks are ro/di, saltwater mix, saltwater hold (left to right)

what is saltwater hold?

He has one to mix the water in, and one to store it in. I'm assuming it's so that he can make sure the salt is completely dissolved before he uses it, then transfers it to the hold container for use.

I'm swinging by protank in about an hour if anyone wants me to get a quote for them. Let me know.

Correct. Auto water change pulls
from hold.

When did you set up your AWC system? Are you using that Cole Parmer that you got from me?
