Planning to add one of these guys later on. Any success stories with sea fans?

I need some for my sea horse tank that I'm wanting to build. I still have the 1/2" thick acrylic from Greggs old tank. I'm gonna mill it and make me a sea horse lagoon. That or an octopus. Haven't decided yet.

Is the seahorse tank going to be tall? Will you be feeding the sea fan?

It would be tall for a Sea horse. Shallow for an octopus.

I have never tried one of the fan-shaped ones, but always wanted to. I have had good success with regular gorgonians - one I've had about 7 years, one about 4, and one I just got last year. They are all photosynthetic, which I'm sure are a lot easier than the NPS ones.

Thanks frank. What flow do you keep them in?

It would probably be considered medium flow. They don't need a lot, but something to help keep algae from building up on them. I sometimes have to blast them with a turkey baster to get algae off, but they do have the ability to slough it off themselves pretty well. I feed them about once a week along with the other corals.
