Hey Marshians! Have any of y’all ever noticed seasonal growth patterns in your stony coral? Even with my parameters and temperature rock solid i have observed better growth during the spring and summer months, opposed to winter. Is it something to do with natural patterns such as seasonal changes in weather, atmoshperic pressure, etc.?

Makes sense that this type of seasonal growth would be observed in the wild but seeing in a reef tank is interesting. I've never really noticed to be honest if my acros grew faster at a specific time interval during the year versus others.

Main things that would come to mind is if you regulate your temperature all year or if you allow it to drift with the seasons. Warmer temperatures do speed up metabolic rates that can increase growth. Another reason may just be you pay more attention to your tank in the Spring and Summer thus the better care and husbandry allow for better growth.

Just taking some wild guesses to the interesting observation you have made in your tank.

Cant say Ive ever noticed seasonal it mostly grows crazy all year, but I have noticed I have better coloration
in the summer. Possibly from the solar tubes in my building.
