Anyone ever kept a shark in a Reef Tank? If so, what type of shark, how big of a tank, problems encountered etc.... I have seen many people have "Aggresive" setups, and besides the posiblity of your fish population being eaten, any other issues?

I am thinking of one day... many years from now, having tank over 1000 gal, and have thought that it would be really cool to have a shark with the reef.

They are also good at knocking things over or getting to big real quick.

had a buddy who bought a shark egg. Turned out to be an endangered species, which slipped through on an order from a wholesaler.

The thing grew very fast, outgrew his tank, and took nice bitesized chunks out of his stingray and dogface puffer when it got excited just before meal time.

Worst part is that he couldn't give it to any pet store or aquarium because it was illegal to own one... he finally worked with Landry's and they got permission from the government to take it and put it in their tank in Kema.

Frankly, I don't think sharks or stingrays are animals that should be kept in aquariums unless one has a very large species tank (500+ gallons) and is willing to release them when they get too large for the tank.

This opinion, however, will change when someone captively breeds mini-stingrays. I'll buy one at any cost if they can breed one down to two or three inches across at adult size! That would be cool.
