ok I'm thinking about making a cable box that consists of 2 power strips and is treated wood box with openings for the wires and mesh at the top, I will try and add a small dehumidifier to keep the cables dry and safe would that be good i have had a problem with power strips getting wet and shocking me and loud buzzing so would this set up help
I built one this past winter break. Took me about 10 days to complete. Unless ur room runs super hot and humid cause your door is closed, you don’t need a dehumidifier and mesh top. I remember correctly i posted on my tank build thread how I did it explaining and stuff. To find it, it’s under memeber tanks, called the 40 Reef it’s prob on the second page idk been a bit since I updated that thread.

I see you and I went to the same cable management training seminar.

There’s a lot more hiding behind that ATO[emoji16]

I know I saw this a while back but thought I would share what I have found recently. This was a little more organized before I ran into issues with neptune products. After that I was disgusted and didn't want to put it back. Then the return pump locked up and had to do a swap so that didn't help either.
Since my tank, sump, and everything is in the garage my "cable management" tends to collect other things...and by things I mean creatures! We park the buggy in the garage and in the warm whether we would take evening drives to check on the bees and the rest of the property. What I didn't realize was the number of grasshoppers we were bringing home. Well grasshoppers by themselves are no big deal. Occasionally I find one in the sump...no they don't survive that ordeal. But the biggest issue is that the spiders have found that they really like hiding around all those wires and humid sump...and I keep bringing them free meals each evening! I found a bunch of dead grasshopper bodies next to my rock tub and didn't know why until I found the black widow nest above it! Worse I found several egg pods!!! So I spent some time playing hulk on some widows and their babies and clearing out the junk that collected around the rock tub and other areas. Gave new meaning to spring cleaning...in the fall! So I would agree that cable management while tedious can be rather important...except I still haven't taken that advice!

I took care of my pile of cords and I’m super duper proud of the outcome. f27b7577355b8860cd4415f15fc62855.jpg

Keep in mind when you’re running wires that the equipment must be pulled out in 6 months. Not cleaning equipment leads to failure and dead reef tanks.

I think with this build I’ll be buying some Velcro straps and avoid tie wrapping. I’m not going to snake any wire through several holes or panduit.

They best way is to setup an easy access control board of some sort. If you bolt it to the wall, it would be great to have it hinged to swing it open to access the back of the board.

Anything built needs to have easy access. BTW...if you mount a American DJ power strip try to mount it horizontally and as high as possible on the stand. I mounted two vertically and it started to get really annoying to look at them and reach down to flip toggles.

Now that is functional. Just need to put up a vertical black board in front.

Going to clean up all the hanging cords in zip ties and mount above knee level, then shove my ato in front to hide it all.

Jeez. What would posses you to use seven smaller heaters? Get a discount on some cosmetically defective ones?

It wasn’t one joint decision lol. It was a series of laziness. As it got colder I just kept throwing in another heater to compensate.

I’m going to engrave this quote into a piece of oak with my cnc router and hang it from my wall. I’m making a bad advice wall ;):p
