Well, here it is. Time to upgrade now that I have my own homestead. I guess the bank has my homestead, but I'm pretending just so that I can cut through walls and build new ones.

Anyway, I started my fish room today. After four trips to home depot, this is the result that I got. Two boards hung from the ceiling. So frustrating today due to every distraction that could happen, but I figured I'd document it.

Clean slate

Bottomed squared up and ready to go. Only problem is that Steve gives horrible advice and all I did was blow out my ear drums by shooting bullets into my slab, chip my slab until kingdom come, and kill a lot of time. Thanks, Steve.

Building it is the fun part. Will be following...

You should've called me to shoot bullets in the slab...always wanted to do that. :)

It’s not as fun, but I used anchor bolts on mine. It worked really well. Let me know if you need a hand with anything.

Thanks for documenting bud. I'm due for the same thing eventually for my fish room but the wife just gave me a couple more years to get that done. I'll just learn what not to do from you and go from there! [emoji12]

Alright, the nail gun contraption went back to the store today. Got my hammer drill and bolts ready to go.

And yes, you better believe the blue hippo tang is gonna be my first fish!

Oh and I picked up the tank and sump last night. The tank is 60×24×24 and the sump is 56×23.5×20. The actual volume of the tank is roughly 130 gallons and I should have at least another 120 of water volume plumbed into the system via the fish room.

Gotta repair the trim on the sump

At the end of the day, it's not my dream tank, but it's leaps and bounds better than working with small tanks, and I can always replace it down the road. With buying a new house, a new roof, vehicle, etc it will take me a while to build back up the cash that's leaving the bank account right now, so I got an incredible deal on these and went with them.

get bigger bullets.

I had the max rating for that unit. Anything past that, and I might have shown up to the next event with a few less fingers.

Gregg would have been outside your house with a reporter!

Gregg is a job creator, no doubt.

Consider my garage framed. I can't help but stand in the room and look around. It's so damn cool!

Man isn't not freezing great? Finally made the next big step today. Only HVAC and dry wall work left to go, and the fish room is complete.

Anyway, I had a couple 20 amp dedicated circuits put in today. Running the wire turned out to more of a pain than I expected, but we got it done.

I have the outlets mounted 60" off of the ground now. I'm sure they will a little eye sore, but I want them above most of the tanks so that they aren't subject to any splashes. I made sure to keep them above where tanks will be so as to avoid moisture. Also, the outlets are the really heavy duty moisture resistant ones, in addition to GFCI, so I should be good to go.

And the light of Helcar shall be born again, while overseeing the sea of Helcar. For there is one true light of the north that Melkor may never extinguish.

So basically, I put recessed lights in it too. And by lights, I mean one light.

Think Cody can testify to the fact my friend Jerry can add you some breakers at a reasonable price. If you don't have dedicated
breaker that can lead to fire and I know a few here that has had that happen
