Alright so here’s the update on my RO wall.

Built the back part that will attach to the wall. The front will attach to this back bracket via hinges and a type of gate lock.

My advice for anyone trying this themselves would be to use 3/4” plywood for the face instead of the 1/2” I used. The canisters are held on by nuts and bolts so they can handle the torque of tightening and removing filters. However, the wood screws used to attach the brackets and hinges need more to grip onto than just 1/2” plywood. I ended up adding pieces of wood to the back of the face board that are screwed and glued into place. This allowed me to get more grip on the front board.

Got everything positioned, holes drilled, cracks filled with wood filler, and hung to test. The system will use three TDS meters (dual, dual, and triple) and they will be positioned under the top three canisters. I’m done sanding and ready to take everything off and paint! All the tubes go back into the fac wall and will be hidden inside the cabinet for a nice, clean look. I even installed the psi meter to the right of the booster pump!

A sneak peak of what I’m doing with the leds on it too…

Thanks! I’m excited to see the final product! The plan is to have the blue lights run all the time, then have another strand of red that will kick on whenever the booster pump starts, aka when the system is running. That will make a purple glow when the system is running, which will be cool.

Drill a few holes behind the canisters to make them really pop.

Yeah I see what you’re saying. I wonder how the media in the canister would effect that. I’ll throw my led strip behind one and see what that looks like.

Algae growth only thing id worry about but that should only be pre-filters and that's about it. Now that you've shown the wooden model lets see the CNC final product that you're selling on shark tank :lol_hitting:

Haha this is probably going to be a one of a kind item. I like making unique things for myself. I used to do a lot of drawing growing up but building and digital design fill that void now.

Dang Cody, I am late to the party! I thought you were building a RO cabinet at first. Mine is next to my tank in the garage so it collects algae in the canisters. Might have to steal this idea and put everything INSIDE the cabinet door. :)

BTW, did I miss the post you must have done on the CNC router?!? Yeah I am a bit tool jealous there! :)

The reason I went outside was just for display purposes. I saw a board once with a butt ton of canisters on it and that was my inspiration. Plus, it hides the tubes, which putting the canisters inside the cabinet will do as well. I liked the idea of back-lighting it with LEDs though. Once the ceiling light pendants are back-lit the same, it will look very nice all matching.

Update time

I had to make custom pieces to help house the dual window units next to the window. I went with dual window units for the same reason you use two heaters; just incase one fails the other kicks in.

I had two 20amp breakers and dedicated outlets for each one in the old fish room. I added a new one to the new wall, which has been live for a while, but I needed to jump the two existing circuits to the two new outlets I wired in with the new wall. Junction boxes in the attics and extension chords until the old wall is demolished.

I put more R-30 insulation over the rest of the fish room to help with temperature control.

Got those suckers up and running. The new fish room is temperature controlled, so time to demolish the old room!

I got the door out. It will go on the storage shed that I built last November. It was planned to go there from the beginning and I actually installed it last night. Pics later to come. I'm happy with how it looks.

Instead of throwing out the pink insulation, I just put it in the attic above the garage over the other area that's not in the fish room. It doesn't hurt to insult the garage more and I can always use it for future projects if I need it. I'm think about an OP outdoor cat house that's air conditioned considering my cat is getting older. We will see. Maybe I'll insulate the storage shed.

I originally thought I'd be able to completely demolish the old room without emptying the existing tanks. Turns out, nope. I had to build a stand for a trough to empty out the old tanks into the trough. There have been complications with the size of the stand, the ability to move it around within the room etc. I had to remove the RO/DI fixture from the wall to place the trough in a temporarily location so that I can move in the next one. It's going to be a pain in the *********.
