And.....the work ceases. He's out of gas folks....
Haha nah I'm finishing the last coats of the canopy right now. Just gotta paint the board that it will attach to, hang it up, and bond a few pvc fittings.

Last coats of canopy set, dried to the touch, then put in their own room to dry over night. There are some parts of the t5 compartments that got listed by black, which I might touch up with a brush, but other than that, good to go.

Wingnut is gonna come over tomorrow to help me finish plumb and hang the canopy. Gonna do a dry run with tap water to make sure the stand doesn't collapse haha

Hanging the canopy. Let's hope nothing goes wrong. Spoiler alert, it goes wrong.

The canopy is just too heavy. Without any lights, the wood bows and the lights won't be stable nor flat. This is before we started to shim and found the shims just cut into the drywall.

Shimmed and still sagging.

Not a seamless solution but one that I'm willing to deal with. Stability, squareness, etc is on point.

Honestly that looks good Cody. I’d check into some much smaller wire and anchor points. Even braided fishing line of monofilament is an option. Shouldn’t be able to see them at all. I’d go with stainless anchor points on the wall because you know they’ll rust with time.

I believe the metal parts are stainless. I thought about monifiliment too, but I'm fine with the wire. It's 1/16" and you won't be focusing on the wire with a popping tank underneath. If I could do it again, I would have made the canopy out of metal, or perhaps used metal pipes that ran the width of the canopy to guarantee no sag. However, I've already spent too much time and money on it. It still looks great, so time to move on.

What rock are you planning to use Cody?
I've got five 27 gallon totes full of dry rock, plus I'll pull some live rock from all of my systems to expedite the process. I'll probably buy some live rock from Tampa bay as well. Their stuff rocks! Haha get it?

Putting the t5s together.

Fresh bulbs warming up. I went with ATI blue plus, actinic, coral plus, and blue plus. I have a purple plus on hand because the place I got them from made a mistake and sent me the wrong bulb. They just said to keep the purple plus and sent me the correct one. Maybe I'll play with the spectrum a little in the future.

Holy hell, these things are bright! I don't even have the leds on and they're cranking out a lot of light to my tank.

Coming up on 8 hours in for making RO water and both 40 breeders are full, in addition to the display being a third full. God I love my dual 150 gpd membranes plus booster pump.

Just gonna fill everything with RO water then mix the salt in after it's full.

Everything is wet, salty, and flowing. I worked on a few rockscapes for the different tank but not settled on anything yet.

The whole system took about 18 hours to fill, so that's pretty nice. Glad I have an RO unit capable of cranking out the volume.

Some left over from another tank that I had, but most of it came from reeftopia. Just some generic dry rock. Gonna have to get some Tampa bay in the mix eventually though.
