What did u get from there?

I got some goodies for what will be my dedicated zoa system. I put some zoas in my display and they became pests much quicker than I wanted. I'm going to keep the display just SPS and LPS.

Ooo nice I like those sidewinders. lol this morning I just realized I put zoas on my main scape 🤦🏼‍♂️ And I put one in the spot I’m reserving for the Millie! I put it up there to have it out of my way during a wc and left it there and took off! Today ima make a zoa island. I think only like few polyps are off the plug so I can put just cover then with putty right?

All the zoas opened up and the pics were pretty accurate as far as coloration. The sidewinder is probably my favorite, but they're all beautiful.

Dont try to cut the foot of the zoa off. Try to cut the surface just under the foot. If you're doing a healthy fragging, then you won't need to put putty down. Even with a botched fragging, you won't need putty either, or at least that's my experience.

The bulk of the zoa is still on the frag plus I was thinking of just lifting it out of the hole and cutting what’s attached to the rock.
Both are viable options.

I'm thinking about taking a projector, finding a beautiful coral picture, projecting it on one of my outside walls of the fish room, then painting that on the wall. It might take a little time, and I've never exactly painted murals, but it seems like it would be cool. I wonder how many different colors of paints and how much I would need. Anyone ever done this?

I've also wanted to do this in my garage. But never have time haha.

Depends on what coral you are doing and how big the mural will be. Your background colors you will need more of than the highlights typically.

I’m thinking maybe a zoomed in picture of a Zoa garden.

Big changes coming up soon. The goal is to get all tanks live, and plumb in another. My window is going. During the winter it’s great because I have a negative pressure pulling air out the side of the house, so opening a window manages temperature correctly. However, the AC that I plunged into the room will not be able to keep up this summer. So, I’m building a custom double panel window for the window unit that has an opening panel. That way I can just open the panel in the winter and good to go.
The window unit will be drilled and I’m making some custom fittings to drain the condensation outside of the garage so that the humidity doesn’t get to my tools. I’m not worried about the added heat, just the humidity.

I’m also getting rid of colonies to make room for some sweet, sweet frags that I have. Here’s the last FTS before selling colonies, rearranging, and adding more rock. 66ACE59F-E1F0-4E59-8467-96852C62E4FF.jpeg

Looking good Cody. Will be strange not seeing the big colonies.
Not all are going. The green Elkhorn on the right and birdsnest just left of the frogspawn are gone. The purple one to the front and right of the frogspawn will probably stay just for a little, but I’ll cut down the skeleton so that I can put it on a different rock. The rock it’s on has blue cloves. But once I add more rock, we will see. The rock the Elkhorn and Cali tort colonies were on went with the Elkhorn. I loved the rock, but it was too difficult to remove the colony. I’ll just have to redo things with the rocks I’ve got on hand. Should be nice though. I’m looking forward to something new to look at.

You need to do a new FTS now that everything is gone. Did you have anymore of that really bright green monti cap?
Let me get my rocks in and then I’ll take a new pic. I’ve been meaning to do it for a couple days but my allergies have Ben bad and my hives are bad. The long gloves keep my arms dry, but it’s impossible not to get some on you. Saltwater seems to flare up my allergies.
I think those two colonies that I sold are all for now. I could never get rid of the blue Cali tort. I’m a sucker for blue corals! And yeah, I kept a little piece whenever I sold the colonies. It’s small but growing.

The fish room got up to 81-82 degrees last summer and I’ll have my full capacity of tanks ready to go this summer, which means more heat from lights, powerheads, etc. I bought a used small window unit a month or two ago and have been sitting on it for a while now. I made a custom window frame for double pane windows to accomadte the unit but got bored with it the other day and just went with plywood. Screw it, it works. In the fall I can take it off, put back the window, and control temperature that way.

had to make a custom piece to drill the bottom to drain the moisture outside of the garage. I don’t mind extra heat in the garage, but the added humidity and my tools don’t mix.

I’m using an ink bird to control temperature because the unit doesn’t have a thermostat.
