Ok, first of all thanks to tektite and soymilk who are awesome and have helped me understand a lot about my camera, that being said here we go. I really need a tripod I have a hard time with focusing as it shows. Hope you enjoy viewing as I enjoyed taking them.

These were taken at F5.6 800ISO and 9k white balance, I could not get the aperture lower for some reason and I am having lot of issues focusing, I had to change the white balance to get rid of the blueness, my pictures were coming out overexposed with this blue/purple brightness, and raise ISO a bit because it got too dark lol.. phew.

Looking good :) Changing that white balance sure makes a difference, doesn't it?

Not too shabby, the fungia pics are really good.

Your f-stop wouldn't go lower likely because of your lens. A lens has an aperture rating at a given range. Were you adjusting your shutter speed? Lowering the shutter speed will help you be able to drop your ISO, though a higher shutter is necessary in some cases, as in anything moving.

Anyway, great start! You're getting the hang of it.

Oh snap I never thought about the lens... I am going to start research on lenses once I learn to play with the settings on the camera more, I want to buy a lens when I know WHY i need it. Thanks guys!

Nice work! I love the scape dude. Also we hav twin fungia plates!

You tank is also harder to shoot pics of because it's a bow front. My old bow was a pain to shoot!

nice shots!
search amazon for lenses.
or bhphotovideo
adorama camera

you do not need to get the sony version:
you can get sigma or tamron, could save you some cash.
any f4 or lower lense will cost.
don't get anything that range from F2.8-4 or 4 -5.6
What will happen is you will set your aperture to the lowest setting when the lense is zoomed in, but as soon as you start zooming out, the aperture will change. also look for something with macro.

actually if you find a 2.8-4 aperture, that might work well, you wil lbe shooting at f4 but with macro and higher iso, you should get some good shots.

by the way, you can mount some of canon's lense on your camera with this:

that adapter is for the canon EF mount to sony nex E mount. The camera zeek has uses the Sony/minolta A or AF mount. IMO theres little reason to use a canon or nikon lens on this camera. Minolta and Sony have decent lenses, some just as good or better compared to Canikon. With an adapter you lose control of aperture and autofocus. So that means you'd have to find old lenses that have an aperture ring as well. Then you'd have to meter yourself with a lightmeter or add a chip so you can set the aperture. Not something I would recommend to someone new.

If there are old camera shops around, try looking for old Minolta AF "maxxum" lenses. Sony bought out Konica Minolta's slr division and incorporated the Minolta Maxxum line into their Sony Alpha series. So sometimes you find old Minolta lenses for dirt cheap.

Sony 28-75mm SAM is sorta crappy. I wouldn't recommend it. Build quality sucks for an $800 lens and Its also a full frame lens, I think the sigma 24-70mm would prob be a better buy IMO. Tamron 17-50 f2.8, Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-f4, and Sony Zeiss 16-80mm f3.5-f4.5 are usually considered the upgrade to the kit lens. They are great walk around/general purpose lenses. The 16-80 has the fastest autofocus speed outta all of them but the slowest aperture. I ended up with the 16-80 as my walk around lens and I have the Sony Zeiss 24-70 f2.8 for low light shots. But honestly, I think the first purchase someone new should try is a flash.

If you wanna get a macro lens, Sony/Minolta 100mm f2.8, Sigma 105mm f2.8, and Tamron 90mm f2.8 are all great choices. But autofocus stinks on all of them. Just nature of the macro lenses in general. But the Sony/Minolta is the only one with a focus llimiter so that'll help autofocus out a lot.

I got my Minolta 100mm f2.8 macro D for about $250. Bought the Minolta 50mm f1.7 for about $70. Houston Co-op had a razor sharp Minolta 50mm f3.5 macro for $189. But the main reason why I shoot sony is AF zeiss glass. But thats just me.

Thanks for the comments on the rock scape I made a lot of changes from my last shots :p I am finally happy with it with the exception of two pieces that will go in the place where the Flowerpor currently sits, it's grown very large and continues to so I'm selling it soon to a better home.

The LED project went on hold when I bought the bigger tank but I am still looking into it, I will create a post on the DIY folder when I get started.

We have to move soon and I'm currently saving all my nickle and dimes for that :(

Thanks for all the links/info on lenses as well, I have less then two months before I move so I'm going to take my time and read trough research more and learn my camera a lot better so I buy a lens when I know why I need one.
