Over 10 years since my last build thread. Soy's Elos System 70 + video

Time really flies. I got out the reef hobby, got into cameras, then guns, then cameras, then guns, then now I'm back in. Nice to see some of the same people kicking around here.

After some back and forth with the wife, I went ahead and ordered the new Waterbox Infinia 275.6 There is like no info out on it, so hopefully its not a stinker. I considered a red sea reefer S-850 or S-1000. But wanted to try something a lil different. Hope this doesn't come to bite me in the butt.

In the back is my new to me frag tank I need to get set up asap. I have my current tank infront of my front door and my neighbors prob think i'm running a grow house. So i'll be glad to get the bright blue lights outta the front doorway. Installed some lvp. I wished i did a better job of checking for low/high spots. I have one area that moves a little bit when you step on it.

new fish room. we used to use that area as a game room. I recently got a low boy, so i'm going to be setting that up soon. Hopefully on the other side of the main tank.

we're heathens, so we eat in front of the tv in the living room lol.

For that matter, I’m not sure how many families even eat at the table anymore. With both parents working, and if you have multiple kids, I couldn’t see it happening very often during the week. There’s just too much going on.

besides hosting the holidays, a formal dining area is kinda a waste of space.

I have a spare bedroom on the other side of the left wall. I'm debating about turning it into a tank utility room

Yeah I agree. The formal dining room is the most under-utilized space in the home. I would argue that I get in my attic more than most people use the formal dining room.

Likewise our formal table in our kitchen area , about same space as the formal dining area which has the old table so the kids can use it for crafts and stuff. Backwards but works way better.

Same here - formal table and hutch in the kitchen, and the dining room is the aquarium room. It was sad ripping out a perfectly nice wood floor in the dining room, but totally worth it to make the room something we enjoy every day.

i thought about making a false wall to put all the rodi and filtration on the other side. I can still do it before the tank comes.

no meaningful updates so far

took advantage of the black friday sales and grabbed two sky lights. I want to try 2 sky and a kessel in the middle for some shimmer. I'll see how 2 skys work out.

i am using a samsclub workbench table.

its exactly 48"x24" and cheaper than any other stand offerings I could find. Has built in leveling feet and height adjustable and rated for up to 1000 lbs. Built kinda janky, but lowboy is only 50 gallons.

50 gallons is about 400 lbs. If it doesn't look like it'll work out. I might switch it up for a gladiator 4" table. I have one for the garage and its built pretty beefy.

slowly piecing everything together. Gonna try to get some powerheads this weekend. Need to get sand and a bit more rock. Gonna start trying to build out some rock work.

I currently have a Reef Octopus Elite 150 sss. Debating if I should just go ahead and get a new skimmer while im at it. What do you guys suggest for a 190 gallon display/ 275g total volume?

I recently got a Simplicity 540DC skimmer for my 294 gallon tank and am very happy with it. The motor is essentially silent and the slight hiss of air going into it is not noticeable with the stand doors closed. I was looking at a Reef Octopus, but this was a couple hundred dollars less and it was actually in stock. You could probably use the next model down since you tank is smaller. It has speed settings from 1 to 20, and I only run mine at 12, otherwise it skims extremely wet.
