I was impatient, and threw one on my frag tank. One side I have a red sea reefled 90 and one side I have the sky. The side with the sky is growing coralline like crazy. I wouldn't mind trying a sky vs reefled/kessil vs 24" t5 setup to see how sps grow differently. Unfortunately I have all my gyres on one side so i'd have to figure a way to spread flow evenly.

an apex is kinda a must for the sky. I'm not sure if you have one already. I tried another sky on my little folwr since I already unboxed it. It uses the apex as the timer, in lieu of that, it uses your phone or whatever you have apex fusion installed on. So if you're like me and aren't home most the day, it doesn't turn on til you get home. I had install apex fusion on a tablet to leave next to the tank so lights would turn on normally.

I certainly like the skys. Growth is about the same as other leds I've tried, but the spread is amazing. They aren't quite as powerful as others like radions, 900 PAR vs 800 at very top of the tank, but bottom and edges of the tank are nearly twice as bright as others. Bottom edge of the tank went from 100 PAR to 250 PAR switching from three Radions xr 30s to three skys. Still say T5s are a bit better, but not by much, and don't have to change bulbs. Can't say compared to a MH though as I haven't run one in a few years now. But yes sadly the Apex is basically a must.

So it must use Bluetooth and not wifi for the non-apex users...?

I've got an Apex, thats part of what attracts me to the Sky. Maybe I'll have to start selling more frags to justify the upgrade. ;-)

yep, which makes me kinda disappointed with the light. I guess they had to cut costs somewhere, just seemed like it was expensive enough to have its own timer built in.

Nah, it's made by Neptune, so they're going to do anything they can to convince you to buy the Apex, etc...

Let me know what you think of the sump that comes with the waterbox. That tank is the one I'm actually thinking about for the home we are moving to.

its very spacious, I like it a lot. I just put my skimmer in there. The model I bought (Infinia 275.6) has the largest sump out of anything waterbox makes. Which is kinda weird. Its a 185 gallon with a sump bigger than the 230 gallon REEF LX.

which model are you thinking about. not sure if you know but they just recently redid the REEF LX, its now eurobraced like the Red Sea Reefer S series.

I think they wanted to differentiate the product lines. Before the Infinia and Reef LX were too similar before and Infinia had a bunch of advantages, so it made it hard to choose between the two. Now the Reef LX is considered their top tier product line. Infinia is the top Rimless

Infinia -
- rimless
- aluminum 80/20 stand with aluminum skin panels
- Used to come with screen cover lids, now its been removed from the description

Reef LX -
- eurobraced
- 80/20 stand with wood panels
- now comes with screen cover lids as a bonus

To compensate for the eurobrace they are making the tanks 2" higher than the older version. The 320.7 is now the 340.7. But technically its about the same water volume.

I think if I had to choose again, I would've ordered the Eurobraced Reef LX. I'm not a huge fan of the eurobraced top but the things I like about their approach is that its one solid piece. Its eurobraced on 4 sides and opposed to only 3 on red sea. Waterbox's rush into this new revision makes me wonder if people were having issues with their 7ft rimless tanks bowing or if it was just product line snafus.

Even though eurobraced is not as aesthetic for me, the extra safety makes it worth it for me. Seams generally pop from the bottom or top. Bottom is double pane 15mm glass. Top is now supported with the fancy smancy 1 piece eurobrace. The extra cheapie screen kit is a nice bonus. TBH it was what pushed me towards the infinia.

New refresh REEF LX should be updated on the webstore in a few months they said.

p.s. thanks for the work you put into the forum with new updates. not sure if anyone mentioned anything to you but its much appreciated.

I bought 3 sky lights but I think Im going to just run 2. I might change my mind a lil later. I have one sitting on the side in case I do. Going to be doing rock work soon. I'm not in a rush to set it up. I ALWAYS RUSH and end up doing alot of stuff I regret later on.

This probably won't see water for a month or two.

The thing I really do like about waterbox tanks is their stands are super high. This puts the tank in great eye level when standing up. Tank sits 64" high.

Looks SWEET!

I was looking at the REEF LX 320.7 originally. But things have been so up in the air with our relocation that I never ordered. Now it shows - not available. Maybe that's because they are changing the product line up.

edit: I dun read 2 gud

Alum skin side panels sound good on paper. But I think the REEF LX wood panels are better. At least with those you can screw in equipment to

I need to research some double sticky tape options. Also need to figure out how to plumb my UV. I would like to close loop it somehow.

@Seaworthy Aquatics how did you do your UV setup?

This stuff is great for attaching controllers, etc to the stand.
