I am going to build a nano for me and my brother and law, Got to decide which one to keep...

I am going to run it as a inverts and softies tank...

I picked up a Eclipse 15 and a Tetra Half moon 10 gal, both are cool.

I guess with the eclipse I am limited on light and filter choices, the tetra is pretty customizable.

Both are glass and about the same height(18-19").

The tetra looks custom, while the eclipse is a know name with a classic design.

I am leaning towards the tetra, but I would need to decide on lighting options...

A led panel looks cool and is efficiant, but i don't know how it would do with softies.

A 70w MH retro fit kit would fit nicely under my cabinet right over the tank, but the heat and electricity are harsh...

Also what filteration are you guys running?

What do you guys think?

I think you're better off just getting a regular 10 or 20 gallon tank. For that price you could get a cheap tank and a used t5 light or a nicer tank and decent light. Also im not a big fan of 70w MH systems. So hard trying to find decent bulbs. JBJ 70w 14k bulbs suck. Depending on your bioload, you could possibly just get away with water changes and just natural filtration.

This was my ADA nano

Things will be alot easier if you have a small bioload.

Thanks for the response :D

The thing is i already bought both tanks, I am just picking on which one to keep...

Based on the setup, i am going to keep the tetra half moon! It looks nice and fits my wet bar like a glove...

I am looking into the whole LED thing, been considering the weipro c40...

any thoughts?

I don't know what kind of water penetration I can get out of the led's, but my tank is 16" tall...

I am using alot of stuff out of my 150, as far as rock, sand, and water...

But i am going to need lighting pretty quick for mine...

as for the eclipse, I set it up but used new sand and mixed up a batch of r.o. water, insted of draining more out of my system.

I was going to add some nice cured live rock, and a couple of damsels, and a cube of frozen mysis shrimp just to kick things off right...

Whatever the fish don't eat should help speed up the first cycle...

the tetra tank does look better... about the leds, generally those are pretty low powered leds. I tried to find some reviews or something but didn't have much luck. Those leds would have to penetrate around 12"... which would be an impressive feat for those little leds.

The fixture looks pretty nice, and the price is definitely right. Give it a shot, and let us know how it goes. I might get one for the fuge.

Yeah the way this tank fits on my bar, it barely clears it on the edge, but once its under there, its got about 3" of height space for lighting and plenty of width and depth space...

I am going to try the led setup, maybe look into Key or Maxspect brand, a little pricer but better reviews...

I guess on the tetra, I will use some nicer pieces of rock, and sticking a hagen fluval u3 underwater filter...

The rock and that filter should keep the tank clean. I haven't decided if I want to put a powerhead or not, if i do it will definately be a koralin nano, but I might want a pair of seahorse's, and they don't like alot of flow/movement...

But if I do that, then I can't get the frogspawn, ricordia, and zoas...

I'll be stuck with seagrass, and zenia, which we know how that goes...

So I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, because my big tank is for corals, but I love the way a small tank lights up with nice corals...

Thoughts?

the maxspect g1-60 would probably be a better fit for a tank like that if you wanted to do alot of nice corals.

I always wanted to try seahorses but kinda been scared away from people saying how they are messy eaters and require colder water. They would be pretty cool, but then I think a canister filter would prob be better. Something you could rinse out easy like a rena.

My next set up is just going to be low light/maintenance corals and a few inverts.

Watch your water temp. 250w mh seems like a lot for such a small tank.

I run a 150w over my 20g and the temps can get high pretty fast. Good luck and moar pix plz.
