Well I’m still battling phosphates.

On a bright note

Jim the Gem Tang, Dory, Larry the Lineatus, Bruce the blue dot jaw fish along with several to remain unnamed zebra darts and purple fire fish are leaving QT observation and heading to the display.

Here’s hoping my QT was good.

Whelp that didn’t go like I had hoped....

Added several fish that have been in QT

5” gem tang, 4” blue hippo, large lineatus wrasse, several zebra dart and fire fish.

existing fish include 5” Achilles, 5” powder blue, 4” Kole and 4” hybrid black + pair small clowns.

im sure you know where this is going. Achilles seemed fine at first but after about 30 minutes was relentlessly attacking the gem.

the Kole has been pretty aggressive towards the lineatus.

anyway I was able to net the gem since it was stuck up in the corner trying to stay off the Achilles radar.

I have it in one of the chambers in my sump but is just kind of hanging there nose down.

hoping I’m not gonna lose this guy after the long battle to get it + qt’ing.

many thoughts or ideas?

I have another batch of tangs that just moved from cp to observation. Was planning on trying to reintroduce the gem when that group is ready to go in.

LOL - Get a large Yellow tang in there. Or.. Just sell me the Gem. :p
Seriously, I had a similar issue until I added a Yellow tang in there.
Achilles is still "king" but the Yellow will not let him bully anyone. He's busy being chased by the YT!
We'll see what happens when the Sohal joins the party in the new tank.

Worried about the Gem.

He’s just hanging out stationary nose down. Right off the bottom of the sump. Seems to be seeing a reflection off the bottom.

Been watching him a bit. He is swimming normally. But definitely doing the I’m dominate display to the reflection he sees on bottom. I guess he’s got to pick on somebody after getting owned by the Achilles.

That sucks. No other QT you can move him out to? is the Tusk still under Copper? Maybe have them both there for a couple of days and move him back to DT? I have two 20 gallon long tanks I am not using at the moment if you need one.

Do you have an acclimation box you can put the Gem in instead of sump?

Yeah I have other tanks.

No acclimation box but was thinking of going to Lowe’s to get some of the fluorescent light grating and rigging one up.

JimTom (wife made me rename him) the gem tang is fine. Already ate some mysis this morning.

Gerrit Kole Tang is still irritated about Larry Lineatus and Dory being in the tank but not nearly as bad as yesterday evening.

I’m not going to try to reintroduce the gem until the next batch of tangs is ready in a couple of weeks.

So one zebra dart fish went missing yesterday and today the other is nowhere to be found. The only thing I can think of is they are in the 1" weir (it has no teeth) at the back of the tank.

I did look in the back external overflow last night for the other and didn't find it. 😑

JimTom the gem tang is looking fine. Hanging out in the sump for now with nobody to take his nori.

Dory is fine and has taken up residence at the top of the one of the rock structures.

Larry the lineatus has found several nice places to hang out.

The fire fish and blue dot jawfish have all taken up residence in same porous rock. Its kind of fun to watch all 3 firefish dart into the rock if they feel threatened.

Just for fun-fact. Is the Tusk already in the DT? :devilish:. Did you add them recently?

Cool, glad everything is working out. Got my PM? It's ridiculous some of the prices I am seeing for fish.

Tusk has been in CP QT for about a week now so still has another 7 days+post CP observation. Still trying to decide what to do with him So beautiful though. Would definitely be a show piece.

Yep I saw your PM. Yep prices of fish have gotten stupid. But hey the prices on coral have been stupid for a long time. Trying to decide on that one. Actually in my cart. Just not sure I want to pull the trigger.

I found one of the dart fish just a bit ago. In the return pump section of my sump. I dunno how that guy got there.

He either went up one of the 1" return pipes, down the return line, past the gate valve, past a T and past the pump impeller.
or
He went over the weir, through to the external box and then down the drains to the sump. Past two filter socks, through a boat load of siporax, then over two more internal sump overflows to get to that chamber.
or
I guess he could have flipped out the top back of tank, bounced off the wall and just got lucky bouncing down and made the sump.

Not sure which ride is more probable. :noidea:
