Tank has a case of the yuckies. Just diatoms.

Planning on a water change and picking up some snails next week.

Mexican turbos for the long hairy stuff. I just got 10 for the new frag tank which was looking bad with its new racks. It’s spotless now after only 3 days.

It still looks like diatoms to me. I hope that's it, because as you know, dinos suck immensely.

Since you don't have any corals or fish in there, wouldn't it make sense to leave the light off so you won't get algae growth?

Yeah I turned them off today. Started dosing probidio. Need to test levels. Probably going to do a water change Wednesday when I’m off work.

What’s your ammonia? Have you tested?

Although part of cycle algae on sand bed-siphon the sand don’t just sit there and look at it Steve [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

lol no idea on the ammonia.. I just tossed in a bunch of crap in the tank early on (ammonia/fish food) and dumped in SeaChem and Dr. Tims bacteria.

Its been sitting fallow for a month, close to two now, so I doubt anything is up with ammonia. Tomorrow at 11am I go off shift and plan on testing nitrate/phosphate.

I don't care about cyano, hair algae or diatoms.

Dinoflagellates might cause me to dump a couple of gallons of bleach in it. Then restart the cycle.

I need to grab a sample and take a looksy under the microscope.

Okay hopefully all is good

Two months is way too long. When I add the bacteria I add just few pieces of pellet for food source that’s all.

In my opinion do a big water change-that’s way too much nutrients in the water columns.

Weee we weee

Hair algae fun!

Fixing to do a water change this weekend. Need to add some more trochus and ceriths. Need to find some Mexican Turbo’s.

No I’m not worried or freaking out!

I will take hair algae 7 days a week and twice on Sunday over Dino’s.

I couldn't agree more - dinos are truly evil. I'm still battling them. I've completely switched tactics and started using Vibrant about a month ago and making some good progress.

Tangs are through QT and in observation.

Phosphates FINALLY starting to drop after several 80g water changes.

Reading tonight 188ppb. I know holy cow right? Well I’m still happy because until now my meter would just blink two dashes at me because the reading was higher than 200ppb. So making some progress now.

I dosed 20ml of DR.Tims Waste Away today as well. Planning on retesting Tue/Wed to see what the levels are.

You just use Vibrant to knock out dino? I just use cyano. Less hostile to corals and much easier to deal with.
