I purchased this cheap pump to run a UV sterilizer. After checking it out i see multiple metal parts exposed including screws and little metal frames.
Am I crazy to think this will this leech heavy metals over time?

I wouldn’t trust it. I recently bought a new return pump with exposed titanium screws all over. While I KNOW they’re safe it still feels weird submerging them

Could be stainless. But I doubt it. lol.

I know Mag drives have stainless or titanium screws. I think they’re stainless. I’ve ran them for a long time and have observed over the years that the screws do indeed corrode over time. I’ve personally never noticed any major issues, but now if I see anything rusty, I change it out. You can find about anything in Lowe’s or online. If it’s not stainless, I wouldn’t chance it. You can tell if the screws are stainless or titanium. Good luck.

A way to check if they are stainless or titanium is with a magnet. Depending on how the screws were made and what type of material of stainless and or titanium they were made from the screws shouldn’t attract to it. At the very most it should be a small attraction if that’s what the screws are made of.

My stainless steel aquarium tongs rust if I don't immediately rinse and dry them after use.
I'm struggling to see the difference, maybe exposure to air?
