So I just build a new tank and I noticed that I’m getting a lot of noise from the drain in the sun due to the force of gravity.
Coming from the bottom of the tank, I have two elbows which are then join with a T, down to another elbow running horizontally to meet another elbow to run the last 12-13”.
Yet the velocity of the water coming down is making a lot of noise and bubbles. I made holes on the last pvc pipe and added an acrylic U shape. But can’t seem to keep that noise level or massive bubble to a minimum.

the only difference from my last tank to this tank is that I’m using 11/4”from a 1” on my last tank.
I would thin the bigger pipe would cause less pressure.

Noise is due to air/water mixing + water velocity in the drain.

What does the drain look like up at the tank?

Basically its going to boil down to how many gph your return pump is pushing and what type of drain you have. Lower the pump output and water will slow down coming down the drain.

It will help to have the water from drain exiting just underwater. Add a sort extension so that pipe ends underwater and preferably going horizontal using another 90° elbow.
