I’m adding a two bulb fixture mostly just for color since I’m running a kessil. What bulbs would be recommended for getting more color pop from my corals?

I would buy two blue+, a purple+, and a coral+. I would recommend either two blue+, a blue+ and a coral+, or a blue+ and a purple+. Switch them out until you get what you like. You can’t go wrong with either combination. Sell the coral+ or purple+ that you don’t want. You’ll either use both blue+, or at least one blue+, which will give you an extra for when you need to change them out in 18 months.

Coral+ : a full spectrum, white bulb.
Purple+: a full spectrum, less greens, more reds
Blue+: a full spectrum minus reds

I already have the coral plus, it’s too white. Going to try the 2X blue plus and see what that looks like fist. I just don’t think the kessil will give off the blue color I’m looking for. Trying to avoid spending a wad of cash on a radion....

Coral+ is a very white bulb, but a great bulb.

KZ coral light is white.

ATI ABS is fairly white.

Giesemann tropic 6500 is white/yellow.

The ATI Blue+ and KZ Super Blue and ATI Actinic Blue are all very blue bulbs.

What is your current lamp combo and what do you want to achieve with color?

So the idea is to get the blue color. The kessil isn’t as blue as I like so I’m going to add the T5’s to get a deeper blue. I’m pretty sure that will give me what I’m looking for. I’ve already got what I think is good growth so this is basically aesthetics.

Ok, sorry....I see here. If only two bulb.

I’d do any of these 5 lamps in any combination
ATI Blue+
ATI True Actinic
KZ Super Blue
Giesemann Actinic Blue
Giesemann Super Actinic

All the blues will give you very blue spectrum and the actinic gives good color pop.

I’ve ran a lot of T5 bulbs. Just point to the one you like. :) 972E0523-BD9A-4C28-AA95-29CF6F0C4519.jpeg 2E5B5148-763C-4E7A-B287-ABCD7965B40E.jpeg 00B3F25A-35B8-4F72-A429-48BB1B389132.jpeg 1B3248AD-E5C0-4EF1-AA35-BF2A8B328E46.jpeg 9AF1D39F-C47B-4A1B-AFF8-AEDE2BECFC4C.jpeg 6E32AA65-D148-4655-993C-8871153A6608.jpeg 70EE291A-1335-4BF9-8FE7-B6D37F68A131.jpeg CACEBF99-51D6-4F13-9D17-43C519B283A4.jpeg 22931672-FF9B-46AF-AF25-31A0E0631A1C.jpeg

Two blue+ will be very blue. Nothing wrong with that if you want only blue and some pop. It’s good to try an Actinic just to see the difference. Great little bulb for pop. Makes the corals fluores more.

If I could see the difference in the coloration I get on the corals it would help me figure out what I need. I see a lot of posts people running radions and their coral just looks incredible. I have some forest fire mushrooms that look nothing like what I see posted from others. Maybe they are using an app with saturation. Idk....

No, they just crank the blues to Max and turn about everything else off. LED’s really make corals pop when you ramp the blue channel to 100%

I know exactly what your looking for. It's the people using LED's turning up the Royal Blue and Other Blue channels to 100%

Shoot @EAT SLEEP Reef a message and he'll confirm it for you. Or @Drewslagoon

Yeah the kessil I don’t think puts off the same spectrum as other lights. Even when I crank it all the way blue it isn’t as blue as I have seen on other tanks

You can always add a LED strip light to give you more pop. Reef Brite XHO, Orphek, etc..
