That purple has gotten ich 3 times gone within a week. Ich will pop up eventually, but it’s possible to get rid of it without out having to pull out the fish and treating them.

I just want to nip this in the butt since it's mentioned as a common theme here. If the fish has Ich, I assure you the tank has Ich and still has it unless the system was run through copper or something else. Ich isn't as horrible as everyone mentions though. A healthy fish should be able to fight it enough so that you do not see the "salt" on their sides. Just because you don't see the salt on the sides doesn't mean it's gone though. It just means the fish is healthy enough to fight it to the point you don't see it.

I'd say about 95% of the tanks in the hobby have Ich. Most are completely unaware of it. It's so easy to spread (coral, inverts, etc) all can bring it over while they are in the protomonts stage.

wait quick question you have 3 tangs in a 75 how old are they or are they ok in the space because if I could deal with the ich which would be the biggest problem, and i just looked nori( EDIT: i just realized that is what I use in my tank I just call it algae but the packaging and product say it's nori) and i have no problem with that, and i have a strong water flow (maybe even a tab bit too strong ) but most tangs want like over 100 gallons and my parents dont want more than 75 gallons in the house (well i will fix that in a year or two)'
these sites say 180

The Tomini is about a year old, the hippo and purple are both about 2-3 months old and only 3-4" long at this point and have reached to point where their growth rate starts to slow way down. Additionally my aquascape only comes up to mid tank and has multiple pass throughs and caves to allow them to escape or break line of site from another fish if needed. For now there's plenty of open room for them to swim around. I do plan on upgrading the tank sometime in the next year to a 120g. Failing that when they get to be too large, I'll trap them and re-home them if needed. A yellow eye Kole, Tomini, and yellow Tangs will all be fine in a 75g for at least 2-3 years if the tank is heavily stocked. Just keep two veggi clips in the tank (one on each end) and keep them stocked with nori daily. This will help reduce or eliminate territorial and /or aggression issues with only having a single algae source.

As for the size of the tank you have, If it's plumbed with an external over flow, then you could technically get away with upgrading to a 120 with internal drains has the exact same footprint as a 75 with external drain and you gain that extra 6" of depth as well.

I prob should have explained my knowledge a bit more. I know that there is ich I’m my systems. I diddnt want to say that it’s gone completely I know that it’s not. I’d prefer to have ich in my tank, weird I know but that’s because I don’t qt at all, tried it for me was a waste of time and money at the time. So if I were to introduce a fish that has been in a Sterile environment I’m sure it would die or come close to it. I only mentioned that part because it seems to rather new hobbyist that ich will kill 100% of the time and be a downer and turn more people away from the hobby. Just wanted to put my experience out there so who ever that reads can be sure that it’s not a first. Plus to add I typed that up after I woke up this morning I’m not that big of a morning person I’m surprised there wasn’t any grammatical errors.
Lucas.

Well in your case if I’m not mistaken you have a 75 gal with the 4ft long footprint? If so then any tang (but i would Def stay clear from Acanthurus genus due to what’s mentioned above. ) under 3in will do just fine for quite a bit. Like I said in my post this morning my dad has a purple tang about 4.5 in long had him for 3 years it’s definitely doubled in size and this year it’s def a year to either rehome it or get a bigger tank which is what we are doing.
Like a tank too small is having a full grown tang like a full size salifin (18inches if I’m not mistaken) in a tank shorter than 8ft. I’ve seen them in the wild and they keep swimming all day!

Ya well after today I will be taking extra care of my yellow tangs. Today I discovered that they are twice the price as last year...not other fish just yellow tangs. At todays price I will be replace them with something else when they pass. I have already started doing that with regal tangs... got a juvinile emperor instead at half the price as regal. I might have to change my user name to Angel which I am not. 😀

Definately not an angel but not hell bound I think. New user name might be emperor as in emperor angel :) I am thinking I might replace my yellow when he passes with 2 orange clown fish. I have always liked them but for some reason never had much luck with them lasting very long. With my crushed coral gone my tank is much much cleaner so that might help. New user name will not be Nimo thank you. :)
