I trapped my yellow tailed damsel today and gave him to one of the LFS... this is a good thing... replaced him with a sixline wrasse and a bangaii... my tank is so much more interesting now... i also picked up a bar of cyclop-eeze while i was there... i ahd thought this was a powder product, and now see websites that say it comes in powder and frozen form.... can someone give me some ideas on what the best way to use it are?

I don't know how everyone else is using the frozen bar of cylop-eeze, but this is what we do.

We keep a small container in the refrigerator with a mixture of different items to feed the tank. Cylop-eeze is one of the items that goes inot the mixture. It's always ready to go.

Personally, we take the bar out of the freezer and use a paring knife and 'slice' off small slivers of the food. It doesn't take long to thaw, so to work quickly is to your advantage. I also use non-powdered latex gloves when working in the tank, and it's a good item when preparing your cyclop-eeze as I found it will stain your hands. (it does wash off quite easily)

Also, experiment with the amount you feed. It's always easier to add more than to have too much food in you tank and cause a problem. Cylop-eeze goes a very long ways.

I hope that helps you somewhat!

I think giving you an answer on the topic of feeding is not a cut and dry one.

It depends alot on the bio-load of your tank (amount of fish, corals, inverts). A general rule of thumb that most people follow is not to feed more than what your tank (fish really) will consume in 5 - 10 minutes.

I know several hobbiest who feed everywhere from 2-3 times a day to someone like me that feeds approximately 3 times a week.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.
