Hello people!
As the title states, my tank temps are rising without any possible explanations. The tank itself is FOWLR for now.
The equipment inside the sump is vectra m2, red sea rsk-900 and reefmat.

I was around 76-77 the first few weeks, but past few days I have noticed a reasonable rise to 79 without any equipment changes.

As you guys know, temps in Houston have been lower than the past few weeks, yet my tank is around 79.
My house never goes above 77, and I haven't turned on any heaters.

By turning the skimmer off, I was able to reduce the temperature some(was testing the effects of the skimmer on temps)
The only change I can think of is raising my Ecotech Vectra m2 pump from 65 to 70% power.

Could that alone attributed to the 2-3 degree change? I cannot really think of anything else that I have done.

A pump more than likely. Get a infrared thermometer and point it around to find heat the source
I have one for my pizza maker, I've been using that to verify tank temps are accurate. Never thought of checking the pump. good point

Humidity?
Room fans on or off?
ac turning on less with cooler temps?

mine is doing the same. Turning my skimmer off results in .1 change.
ac definitely turning on less, but ambient temps are still around the same. You do have a good point about AC because although the tank is in the living room with high 25ft ceilings or whatever, the ac points somewhat directly at it.

Having your HVAC set to circulate some outside air should help with humidity/air circulation/temp too if your a/c isn't kicking on as much with cooler outside temps.

Less evaporation possibly... Have you noticed that your using less top off water?

Will try that

I haven't looked much into it, will try to monitor moving forward.

You could check the Vectra to verify it's not getting stuck and overheating. They had that issue a while ago and replaced a bunch including mine. My Eheim return is the same temp as my tank water. If it's running hotter than your water then it's basically a small heater

If the functionality(return rate) isn't being impacted, could it still be getting stuck? and what you would do to check.

Like others said with the cooler tempreture the AC comes on less often - I would not turn off the skimmer. Even at ~79° your tank should be fine.

A small fan makes a huge difference for air circulation. Nothing fancy cheap $6 fan.

For what it's worth, I've had a tank get up to 84 before and things got upset, but nothing died.
