Side cabinets are the bees knees. I get to keep all my reefing stuff hidden away, food, glue, meds, beakers, calibration fluids yada yada yada....all out of site. PLUS most of my controller hardware. 12 controlled outlets, various inputs (temp, ph, solenoids ets); co2 setup and kalk doser AND my Alkatronic unit. This makes it much tidier under the stand, less clutter. Also, make sure you put cable trays underneath the tank for cable management. I've got 4" trays, you can stuff some crazy things and hide it away in the cable trays. IMG_0878.JPG

thing sounds like a mini freight train when it runs every few hours, pumps whirling.....not cool. this dampens the sound to a reasonable level, small hum in the background. My goal with this setup is total silence, minimal light spill since its in the living room.

Have you tried acoustic panels?

I can't imagine removing my rollermat ever. That thing picks up so much garbage. Probably the best thing thing I've bought for a tank as long as I can remember.

I did remove my media reactors last year though.
I've noticed my corals react better in dirty water. I truly believe most of us are stripping too much nutrients from the water column. My system has been running strong for a year without protein skimmer or roller mat. Notwithstanding this, I haven't had any luck with sticks.

I just over-feed my fish so much that I need them! I have a golden angel that is so afraid if I don't drop in two cubes a day I wonder if it'll eat at all... (I also have a AFS that feeds about 5 times a day, but I never see the angel go up for the pellets, the rest of the fish are in a frenzy during the pellets).

I am about to start on the same roadmap as you I went with fish bowl guys btw, they are making a complete separate piece to house all the equipment as well as a nice stand, only thing under will be the sump, the skimmer and , if and when available the ReefBeat, all other things like my whole apex system will be in the separate piece with only the dozer cables and sensor back into the sump, keeping it clean

All I can say is man you need to simplify your system, way too much going on under there! I'm down to 4 tanks currently (1 is a QT) and the easiest one has a tank, sump, doser & that is all. No skimmer, nothing extra. My larger tank I have a CaRx & Skimmer, but out side of that its pretty simple & grows anything.

But can't wait to see the new set-up!

By fish bowl guys, do you mean Carlos@,fishbowl and more? I was thinking about asking them to build a stand.

Yea Carlos is the man! He builds with premium finishes to match too, I am of the intent to put a canopy on my peninsula and he has a killer design for it that still makes it look sleek

That’s good to house all the sensitive equipment outside the humidity of the sump and inside a separate compartment. I started mounting mine outside. The only thing I leave inside is my doser.
