The HUB Houston is bringing belonging to life.

I have been working with The Hub Houston for the past few months now. If you are not to familiar with this school, The Hub Houston is a program for high school and young adults with neurological differences. I have talked to the students about bringing in a Reef tank, which all of the students are super excited about.
Wanting to give them a sense of ownership and responsibility. These students like consistency and so does the Reef tanks. Which is a perfect match in my opinion. Also Brings science to the table for the kids to learn about the water parameters.

I will be donating my 40gal Cube tank. Spoke to FJW and Diesel about this project, which they are excited to help out. Looking to see if anyone has any equipment that you are able to donate to the school. I will soon provide the list of equipment/Livestock that is needed.
The plan is to keep this a FOWLR tank first then as time progresses I would like to add easy hardy corals.

This is the schools Mission Statement:
The HUB Houston is a relationship-centered educational program serving teenagers and young adults with neurological differences. We bring belonging to life in a community where members are Heard, Understood and Believed in. Our mentors believe belonging to a community is at the heart of learning. The HUB aspires to be a welcoming, joyful center where interactive relationship practice is central and where each member is accepted and cherished just as they are. At The HUB, social relationships will flourish, academic growth will continue and professional/employability skills are taught and practiced.

Awesome project John! I'm sure I can dig up a bunch of stuff from my "fish corner" in the garage. I need to clean it out anyway. I'll see what I have and let you know. I definitely know I have some sand (dry and clean) that I didn't use. It's sealed in ziplock bags. Not a lot but will help. We will see what else I can find. I can speak to the BoD members also to see if MARSH would like to sponsor the tank. We could help with some test kits, salt, etc. I'll be in tough soon.

Thanks Mark, I really appreciate your support on this project. They asked if I could educate the kids about the reef . I told them I could probably find someone that definitely knows more than myself lol. If anyone is free let me know and I can set something up. It's fairly close to FJW. Close to Clay Rd. & Blalock.

The only thing with the tank I'm donating has some scratches hopefully not to deep. I'll have to check it out when I get home.

I am so excited this is turning out better than expected.!

Thanks everyone for your willingness to help out with this project. Currently accepting anything I can get.
This project is really coming along nicely. Marsh community has been a huge help. Starting this year off on a good note for the kiddos!!

@lucho That would be awesome, Thanks!! Which model is it, starting a list right now.
@Xathron Yes, Rocks would be awesome. Reef wouldn't be one without it.
@Sneezebeetle - Box of fritz would be greatly appreciated

Update: Spoke with Nick at Oceanlife and also willing to help out. Thanks Nick!!

I think it is a NAC 5 or something like that. Not totally sure. Had it in my 150g and worked well. Switched to a new skimmer a year ago

Oh man would that be overkill on a 40gal!??! Crap maybe its time to find a bigger tank!!! lol hmmm maybe back to the drawing board. I'll get back to you. But if you think it isn't Overkill then its all good.

Hey guys, man I feel real dumb . The tank is only 28gal plus the overflow box which would make this maybe 20-25 gal. Which is too small IMO. I wish I calculated this before. So I called a friend of mine. Said he is willing to donate his 350-400gal tank. So if this is the case then need to think big. I need to confirm to see if The Hub has the space for this first before changing this thread.

Sorry guys for the confusion.

Past few days I've been pretty bummed out and a little upset . The guy flaked out last min. And luckily I didn't tell the kids just did all my measurements and talked to the staff to see if it was ok.
Got to stay positive, I still see light at the end of the tunnel. Will keep searching. I think the ideal tank size would be from 60-120 gal.

I appreciate everyone's input and generosity!
