second one, i don't know that's my closest guess...but when it's fully opened it doesn't really look like it...


MAYBE an encrusting Hydnophora...i found a reefcentral thread that talks about it and i'm gonna try to get better pics as well as some when it's retracted to compare to what the guy on RC says...

I am thinking Hydnophora also. I am bringing one to the frag demo this weekend. When it is closed does it look like little thorns or spikes like the picture I posted on the frag demo page? If so then it is definately Hydnophora.

so...i don't know...

maybe a beat up version of hydnophora...it was like the size of a quarter when i got it...it's a little bigger now...i'm not sure...

Yep....Hydnophora! If you want confirmation, just place it within 2 inches of any other coral. If the other coral dies, it is a hydnophora.
