Take that title for what you will. We know that BRS fronted 2mil for the sky project. We now know that BRS and Neptune are one. Rumor has it that Neptune will be on the distribution side of things, monitoring and removing self proclaimed dealers. (If you are not a brick and mortar store it appears you will not be able to get wholesale prices). Talk is that BRS will completely stop selling to the general public and transfer over to complete distribution and R&D for a vast number of new Neptune products.

The question is, how will this affect the end user? Well to better help you understand that answer I had a lengthy conversation with Neptune. One of the topics was the SKY. If the SKY is the benchmark product, we, the end users are in big trouble. I have confirmed the coverage for the sky will be 24”x36”. This is great right? I mean, we are getting 1/3rd more coverage than the industry standard, right? If this holds true that is awesome. That means 2 SKY lights would be sufficient for a 180 gal 6’x2’x2’. Imagine the savings. Wooh, hold up Batman. Not so fast. THE CONFIRMED PRICE FOR SKY IS $869.99, MSRP. This info is directly from Neptune to me. Not as much of a great deal any more is it? Furthermore, a mounting bracket was sneak peaked in a Neptune YouTube video. I asked Neptune if the mounting bracket was included in that price. They would neither confirmed nor deny any knowledge of an arm mounting system. Based on the mood of the conversation, I would venture to say that the arm will not be included in the packaging, and I further speculate that you can expect another $149.99 MSRP for that mounting convenience.

BRS has some great ideas to advance the Neptune ecosystem and I expect really great things on multiple product line advancements in less than 3 years. BRS has already said publicly that they will use their own working capital to start R&D on multiple fronts immediately. It has been confirmed that new add on test kits are already being looked into. It has STRONGLY been hinted that we should expect a PH controlling skimmer in the near future. All of this is great news. Question is, what does this mean about the simply amazing customer support for both Neptune and BRS? As far as Neptune goes, I do not see that changing. As for BRS, if they switch to wholesale only, what would be the motivation to support the customer? Why would they care about that element any more. Given the extreme amount of public interaction BRS is known for, I just can’t imagine that being the case. Now the only issue is, can the end user afford to support these endeavors? Not at prices listed above.

What say you on this matter?

edit: I have shared this post with both BRS and Neptune and am awaiting response.

I have had great customer service from BRS but NOT from neptune. If BRS will stand behind the neptune products like Kessil does with their products it would be nice.
I still do not see what the sky has that no one else does. Right now I do not trust ANYTHING with the neptune name and wont give them another dime.

Wow. Interesting to hear. I had an issue with alk not getting water sample. It took less than 24 hrs to get a phone appt. First thing they said was, if we can’t fix it today we will ship you a new one. They fixed the issue in less than2 hours including 1 hour test time. I’m glad I was lucky. Sorry to hear about your experience.

Now I am having an issue with broken mounting hardware from the hydra32 mounting arm and AI is being a total Richard. The phone assistant had the personality of an empty toilet paper roll.

Are you still under warranty? All that support dries up after warranty goes out in 1 year. Then it's a big repair bill or buy a "new" one for 1/2 of MSRP. I understand not supporting your product after 5 years but you cannot walk away from someone who spent over $1000 on your products. I would say a good company would repair or replace it for free as long as I pay the shipping!

Well I paid $68k for my Range Rover and I do not expect them to support their product after my warranty period is up. Price is irrelevant to repair/replacement costs
