Well you would have to have the Alkatronic from them to replace the Trident. The mastertronic tests nitrate/phosphate and two others the elude my acorn sized brain at the moment.

ah yeah.. see what I mean by pea sized brain...

Measures PO4/ NO3/ Ca / Mg / dKH* / OLI (may add parameters in near future)

I wish Neptune would come up with something as comprehensive.

I was till I saw the price. Plus you will need to buy about the test kits and replace when out. I am now going to wait for the GHL ion probe based tester which should be around the 800-900 price range with a once a year probe replacement and just have to purchase calibration fluid. Xepta abex and auto balance I was looking forward to also but not sure they are releasing here

Is it released?

Here is the URL for the company if anyone is interested:

It’s being released now, but I think most are going abroad to European reefers first. In two weeks we’ll be getting them here from what I understand.

I’m gonna wait regardless, because I think the price will drop and I want to hear feedback for both before I drop 1K. I’m a big GHL fan, so I would obviously wanna go in that direction. However, there are a lot of Acro guru’s running the Alkatronic and love it.

Bad timing to release this product - I wouldn’t pay $1,200.

NO3 and PO4 does not fluctuate that much. Weekly test with Hanna should be sufficient.
Alkatronic/trident way cheaper.

I wouldn't mind seeing numbers every couple of days or maybe once daily.

But yeah its expensive and all of the test kits are expensive. Down economy, COVID. kind of a bummer.

My fear of the ION Director is that it sounds very similar to the Mind Stream which became an epic fail.

Another thing that I don’t like about the ION Director (and I’m a big fan of GHL) is the fact that it doesn’t test low range PO4. Plus, I don’t want to pay another 1K to test ALK separately.
