Is there a tang that can be added to a 75 gallon tank with a resident small threadfin butterfly fish? I also have a couple of blue and yellow tail damsels. I would like a tang to help control algae.

The threadfin butterfly is about 3 inches and has been in the tank about one month.

Any of the bristletooth tangs, such as the Tomini tang, would be good choices. They stay smaller and are fairly peaceful. When I first got my coral beauty angel, my Tomini was surprisingly aggressive towards it, but they reached a truce and get along fine now. Since you're adding the tang to the existing butterfly, that should not be a problem.

Not what you want to hear but a 75 is too small for a butterfly... and the only tang I would recommend for a tank that size is a bristletooth (or possibly a small yellow)

It probably is. I did have a powder brown tang and bi-color angel along with a marron clown for about 7 1/2 years. They did great. Powder brown was peacefull (well fed) and would eat out of my hand. I made a huge mistake and bleached some of the "dead rock" to clean it and must not have rinsed it well as the Powder Brown tang and BiColor angelfish died within 24 hours. I had cleaned a few rocks like this previously, rinsed with lots of water outside, and let dry in the sun for a couple of days with no issues. Not this time however. The butterfly fish is about 2 1/2 - 3 inches. If he gets where it does not work, I will rehome him. Hopefully he will be as good as the previous PB Tang. I like the idea of a bristletooth tang. Will repost when I find one. SUP
